Another vote for the Shark Rocket- light weight, powerful, and just kind of fun to use. Can't even believe I'm saying that about a vacuum, but it's true. It takes getting used to at first because you have to pull it back instead of push it. It also swivels, so can go around corners and stuff, but it's a wiggly, squiggly, energetic machine. It also has a longer cord than most. First vacuum I don't mind using, not counting Roomba of course. It works better than Roomba though. I got mine at Kohls when it was on sale and I had a 30% off code and free shipping.

I had a shark rechargeable and it died after 6 months of very light use. I replaced it with an eureka easy clean 2 in 1 lightweight. I got it in Nov 2011 I've had no problems with it at all. It gets used quite a bit. I've recommend it to a couple other people who have been pleased with it as well. They're a little over $30 on amazon

HI Rock_chick......I also like Electrolux V32244. I use to vacuum my kitchen around my eating area after meals. Gets under the overhang of the base cabinets and into the corners (has a little brush on the side). Quick, strong enough vacuum to pick up bits and pieces. No bags to replace and I can remove the hand held and vacuum kitchen drawers. Had for over a year and very pleased.

Shark Rocket....Tested and approved by 4 Golden Retrievers. They eat vacuums for breakfast.

We just ordered a Hoover Linx Cordless Stick BH50010 from Amazon.

It has lithium batteries, so they don't suffer from the shortening battery life like the other re-chargeables. And it works really well between vacuums with my Dyson.

{#emotions_dlg.laugh} Did you ever see the "Family Guy" cartoon, where Brian, the dog, is having a nightmare and it's of him being in h@ll being chased by a vacuum!!! Hysterical.

I also have the Hoover Platinum Linx. I use it all the time and really like it. Because it is cordless, you can just pull it out and use it for big or small jobs. In fact I liked it so much, I then went out and bought the full sized Hoover Platinum vacuum.

My Dyson canister just sits because if is heavy and bulky. So much easier to use the Linx.

I have the Shark Rocket, and really love it too.

It has great power, so lightweight, it's almost fun to use. It's great on light area rugs (or any rugs actually, but I find it is great on surface dirt as opposed to "deep cleaning" vast areas of carpet. For that I use a regular Shark). You can easily detach the bottom to use the wand to get into corners so easily. It has lots of attachments, but I don't use them that often.

I've had it a year and it's going strong. This is the one with the cord (nice and long), not the rechargeable.

I'd highly recommend it.

Sorry, misspammie, never saw the Family Guy episode, but I bet it was hilarious. My Goldens aren 't afraid of the vacuum. Our Cocker used to bite at it. Vacuum had teeth gnashes in it. Too funny.
