This is stunning!
My late Mom looked so pretty in darker turquoise with her white hair. If this is an outdoor wedding will the reception be inside? This dress may get a bit warm in the sun during summer while most ladies of a certain age will not bare their arms.

I think everyone missed your pants requirement and suggested a dress instead.

Here are some Q options.
The first one is a wardrober three piece set, on clearance. These are available in her size, in petites. I would take the pants/tank and change out the cardi/jacket, or put a sparkly tank in place of the black one and use the pants and cardi/jacket.

There are two pairs of wide leg pants, as separates in petites, in her size, from Bob Mackie, and Linea, pictured below.
All tops/jackets are available in a 12 or 14, depending on the color choice. I tried to pick the big pictures. All of the item are dressy, with sequins or lace.

Lots of pantsuits and tops suggested.
I think a long dress is more dressy than long pants for a wedding and still covers everything. A dress would hide a large bum better than pants. It is always about having options. Having his grandmother at the wedding is very special. No matter what age, she can be especially beautiful.

Bob Mackey a266374 in fuchsia with silver gray pants. The shell/jacket are very pretty and VERY COMFORTABLE. The size L is very generous and if the color doesn't work, the size M might be large enough.

If you type "Susan Graver Chiffon Tops" in the Search bar, there are some nice options for an afternoon wedding in the summer. Any of them can be worn with dark pants. There are also chiffon vests and open kimono tops.

That sounds lovely, but judging from my past experience, most older ladies look much better with a color than white. They need to perk up their color and skin texture with some pretty shade.
@Sooner: Good point. Ivory would be better, or a soft color.

I thought it was a no-no to upstage the bride by also wearing white......

I don't believe they have to worry about an 86 year old grandmother in black pants and a white top upstaging or being confused with the bride!!!
I have been to many weddings where someone has worn white in some way. It doesn't seem to be a problem anymore.

A long dress is not practical or safe for an older lady that can barely walk even with a walker. It's an accident looking for a place to happen.
