What a refreshingly wonderful attitude! Yes, it's amazing what I took for granted. I miss attracting attention from men lol.

I shop here cuz it's easier once you know your size. Can't stand going to stores and trying things on. That's why I like Zappos. You can return everything for free, for a year! Just bought a dress from them and it was pretty (CeCe).

Aren't QVC and HSN owned by the same company?

We always called them pocketbooks. I'm from New England.

Yep--closed necklines, elastic waistbands, tea-length dresses, knee-length shorts, elbow-length sleeves, semi-fit everything, 3 seasons behind the trend, blah blah blah.

@Love to Run   Oh, no....this means I'm matronly! Closed neckline so my purple open heart surgery scar doesn't show, elastic waistbands as I swell up 2 or 3 times bigger when I eat, and even tea length dresses are out now because of varicose veins and a venous leg. However, I am still young at heart! Ha! Oh, I forgot my wigs. I am losing my hair and even if I had hair...... my shoulder impingements keep me from doing much above my head. At this point, I'm just glad to breathe, see, hear, and talk!

Seriously now, I pretty much stick to long slacks, tops, blazers, vests and low heeled shoes, a touch of jewely, makeup and that's as good as it's gonna get.  Enjoy your youth.  It was so nice while it lasted!

Matronly in my book is only a state of mind. The fact that you kept your sense of humor makes you a whole lot less matronly in your thought processes than overly critical self claimed fashion experts on all things "matronly"

I"ll sit beside you @jubilant on the same bench!💐👗👚🧥👠👕

@Trinity11   OK....I'll meet you at the beach by the bench.  I'll be wearing the hot pink bathing suit!

Matronly fashion is subjective and not necessarily a bad thing!

At first I thought Mary Poppins dresses matronly, but not realistic.

So I googled pics & came across this pic & I agree, this is matronly fashion to me

Completely covered from neck to toe.

Now don't shoot the messenger, but a certain someone or someones kept popping up in google pics & I have to agree.

@San Antonio Gal: Of course Sophia appeared matronly. She's an 80-something year old woman. She IS a matron. As for Dorothy, Rose and Blanche, they were women in their 50s and 60s. They dressed appropriately for their ages and looked very nice. Let's face it, ladies, when we are over 50 , we can still look fabulous if we dress appropriately. Trying to wear clothing meant for 20 year olds makes us look desperate and frankly, ridiculous. Our bodies are simply not the same as they were back them even if our weight hasn't changed.

I don't purchase clothes from QVC anymore. Haven't for some years.  Susan Graver with her prints that remind me of my grandmother's sofa and cheaply made polyester garments. A lot of  D&C styles do make ladies look frumpy. Sometimes I wonder if the stylist actually looks at what she has put on poor Carolyn.

Probably the viewers that watch the Q are older women so that is who they cater to.

Not all 80 year old women dress like Sophia on Golden Girls.

All in all, it's fear of being old, not attracting men, looking "not young."  It's about attaching women's worth to looks.

That's how come there is no term analogous to "matronly" for those old guys who don't shave any more and only wear worn out denim and 40-year-old t-shirts from concerts of long-gone bands.

How many times have you heard a guy say about another guy "those overalls aren't really flattering to his figure."
