Hi eveyone- I was wondering what had happened to quality control on strips, big patterns, etc.
I notice on the LA fashion show that there were several garments that the strips did not even try to match from the front to the back. I was taught when sewing to make sure that the strips ran all away around the garment and you got graded off for the overall look if they didn't match when you turned around. There were at least two maxi dresses and blouses that did not match from front to back and they needed to. On one the Strips were made such that the back was also upside down from the front. The stripe they used was a one way strip and can't be fliped on the other part of the garment. I haven't seen too much of todays show to see if they have done it again. Also when doing a large pattern such as flowers the pattern is supposed to be matched so that when you turn around that the seem in back matches. I just don't see it on large prints. Designers such as Bob Mackie, George Simonton and Isaac Mizrahi do try to make garments that match at the seems. They are experts at making the look great.
