Around here (NYC) it's mainly the young women wearing the leggings and short tops. Rarely see an "adult" woman wearing anything too tight.
I live in an area with a lot of NYU grad students ... not the best-dressed bunch, either male or female. Guys are just as bad.

I say keep them coming and OP can just buy and wear what she likes! I was a boot cut person and after I got my first pair of skinny jeans I was hooked. I found a few brands that are a perfect fit and I receive so many compliments and they are just oh so comfy!
I am sure there are many styles that each and every one of us think is not a good look on anyone but then many others think those styles look great so it's all subjective. There are different styles readily available for everyone's taste. Wear what you like and like what you wear and it's nobody else's business!

How about we make the bodyshaming so prevalent on here stop? As long as the clothes do not have offensive sayings and won't result in an arrest for indecent exposure, let people wear what they like and stop the moaning and groaning. Times have changed, there are lots of choices, and women, especially plus-size women who are confident in their skin, are not going to go around covered in dark, shapeless stuff 24/7. Be like Elsa and let it go!

I was only telling the truth as I see it and giving an opinion and conversation.

Here's my truth: I will continue to wear skinny jeans and leggings with tops that are not tunics.

Yes, you were. Why not do some research and see how harmful it is.

Boot cut and straight leg jeans do not look good on everyone!! I am also sure if OP posted pictures of herself and how she dresses there would be many who would think she should not be wearing what she likes as they might not look that good on her and she might not be as perfect as she thinks she is!! Like I stated before it's all subjective and nobody's business what anyone is wearing. Maybe OP should stay home more so she wouldn't be subjected to those wearing clothing not of her liking!!!

I will say that recently a guy and girl came up in the line at a store behind me. The girl was wearing the thinnest leggings or tights, in a very light gray color. They showed it all. I am not kidding, the outline of everything was on display and you know what I mean!! It was truly not a good site.

I agree with you that leggings and skinny jeans are not for everyone. But I love them and will continue to wear them. I am short and on the thin side but always wear an appropriate length top with them. They are great when you are wearing boots too.
