Re: Lord and Taylor and Customer Service (?)

I think Lord &Taylor was my first credit card also and loved going to the Fifth Avenue NYC store especially at Christmas time. A little known fact, but I think they may be the only store that had this practice. But, if you happened to be waiting for the store to open, about 15 minutes before the doors opened, they let you in, put up folding chairs, served tea (really nice on cold mornings) and played the Star Spangled Banner...I just thought that was so classy so I remained loyal for many years. I am not sure if the practice is still done, probably not, as it would probably be called politically incorrect today. I don't know if it was done only in NYC? But, I have been disappointed in their merchandise and customer service is just not the same; I shop in the NJ store now since retirement but visit the NYC store periodically and both seem about the same service-wise.

Re: Lord and Taylor and Customer Service (?)

I have been a Lord & Taylor shopper for over 20 years. Its still one of my favorite stores. To be honest, I order on-line and got to the to the actual store quite frequently and have never had a problem with either. Perhaps they were having technical problems on-line that they were not "yet" aware of or maybe it was on the credit card end that there was a problem. Have always had a positive shopping experience with them and I still love the store.

Re: Lord and Taylor and Customer Service (?)

Nordstrom website did that to me twice. A purse and a workout shirt. Order goes through, email says "thanks for your order, it's in process". 30 mins later - cancelled. I have recently received very good customer service at L&T. And very good prices

I used to love L&T, but that ship has sailed. I don't think they are the store they used to be. I guess that could be said about a lot of stores. I don't go out of my way to go there, like I used to.

Re: Lord and Taylor and Customer Service (?)

Their website is completely messed up. They are disorganized. I've gotten some stellar deals online, but they've also messed up 2 orders. They sent me a Vince Camuto pair of boots-one size 7.5 and one size 8. They also left out a pair of Me Too shoes on a different order--which were , of course, then out of stock.

Their CS is getting progressively worse. It is impossible to speak with an intelligent person and one time the store manager was plane rude to me and hung up on me when I tried to ask a question. It happens in our NJ state. NordstromNordstroNordstrom has best CS IMHO .
