What is the difference in style, quality and fit between Linea and George Simonton clothes? They seem similar to me and for that matter so does Mackie, except he may do more prints.

I have both GS and Linea. Differences? I think they are both very nice. George used to do more jackets, I did recently get a beautiful ivory jacquard from him...it's excellent. I love his crystal knit pants for three seasons out if the year. Now, Linea offers more jackets and I have a lot . I also have Linea pants, very nice. I think the fabrics used may be a bit better, again depending on what you like. I think both equally are very good quality............................. Bob Mackie, now it depends on what you like. I only have a few pieces. I do like some if his prints, especially Jewel tones. Quality? Not many tailored pieces so I can't comment. However the couple of blouses included an eBay ivory silk jacquard were excellent.

Oh...fit. I think the same...BM slightly larger. Style, that's the opinion of the buyer of the garment. But I find GS can be nicely fit and flared which really looks better on my body type.

The cut and fit for Linea is much better for me. I usually have to size down for both GS and Bob. I do know, though, that Bob Mackie's clothes are from the same manufacturer as Linea. The few pieces I have are very nicely made.

I have pieces from Bob & George right now & like the fabrics and fit, but I have loved Linea since Louis's first day, and still have most of my older purchases. Linea gives you a lifestyle. The painstaking work put into this line shows in every piece. Want to match or coordinate something that's a year or two old? Colors are often carried through for several years, making this possible. The fit is generally uniform, and jackets are exceptional, most fitting like they were tailored specifically for me. Don't fail to try the Whisper Knits collection! Remember to read reviews and use click-here (garment) measurements.

I think there is a big difference between the three in the look of the clothes. BM has very fancy prints and embroideries. He usually does very similar tops in different patterns. Many like them, but they are not my taste. George has some nice solid tops, but he practically uses one fabric which is his Milky knit. I do have a few tops. Linea is the most sophisticated of the three and offers a complete collection of separates that you can mix and match from season to season. It is the most diverse line of styles, fabrics and colors. This is a real designer looking line IMO. The Whisper Knits, Posh Knits and Ponte fabrics are all wonderful. I think the quality of all three lines is generally good and the fit similar.

George seems to use thinner knits i.e... crystal knit, similar to Susan Graver.. liquid knit... If I had both I would wear Susan's clothing more for casual and George's clothing more to go out to dinner. George seems to cut his clothing with a little more drape. Linea I think uses a better quality material and has a better fit. Linea clothing also seems to offer items that are appropriate for both work and casual wear. I think when buying the biggest difference to me is how I look in the clothing. 90% of the time Linea clothing looks great and fits well. George for me is closer to 70% and Susan is 50%.

A254439 is a great example of what I am trying to describe. The material is more substantial than either liquid or crystal knit. But flows the same and does not cling. This item can be worn over a skirt to be dressy, over leggings/pants for either casual or work. And can also be worn for a beach cover up as it is easy to roll in a bag and pull out with no wrinkles.

For my $ value Linea wins every time.
