Why oh why must they use 5% spandex in summer tops? I resisted for a long time, but this spring I purchased several tops from Isaac, Denim & Co and Belle by Kim Gravel. Every one of them feels rubbery and uncomfortable in the Midwest heat and humidity! Please cut it down to 2%; the item would still have stretch and recovery but would be so much more comfortable, IMO.

This never used to bother me but it does now. I am always looking for cotton in new tops that I buy now. I agree with you!!

I agree and have complained about this for years...to no avail. I don't understand why the tops at QVC with spandex feel rubbery while the tops at Walmart that have spandex, do not. I no longer buy "perfect jersey" at the Q. I am happy with the jersey, the french terry, rayon, modal, (blends) and 100% cotton...."the fabric of our lives".

I know there are a lot of women who love the 95/5 cotton spandex blend. Five percent spandex in a top is too much for me personally. I like a cotton/rayon or even a cotton/poly blend with no spandex. I have heard Gary Goben say they are adding more cotton/poly blends with no spandex but they are few and far between.

I tried one 95% cotton/5% spandex top. It was so rubbery, it was given to Charity and I've never purchased another mix. Only 100% cotton for me! Won't wear man-made fibers, which remain in landfills forever which is another drawback IMO.

@NanaLindaI am with you on that! I am not a fan of humidity and hate feeling like I need to call a paramedic to help me get out of my clothes. On humid days I even go with my big all cotton 'granny panties ' if I can get away with it.
@avid shopper come to think about it , it is true what you said about WalMart tops. I have been finding all cotton tops and nighties there recently .

@NanaLinda .... I agree with you.... when I buy tops I always look at the fabric content & if it has spandex I don’t buy it because of the rubbery feel 👎

The one reason the 95/5 cotton-spandex tops are so ubiquitous is that they must be the cheapest fabric to produce. The only spandex blends I wear in the summer are workout leggings to go to the gym.

IMHO, clothes that fit don't need to stretch.
