No guys, you all missed it. The only pronunciation we use is as in de-LUXE! David told her to say it this way. She said "loo" in a soft-spoken voice. Obviously not saying what the word was. Hey, I am not perfect but I do not host a fashion show. I hear some of you just do not like her "presence". That's it in a nutshell! To Colonel Meow, don't take it so personal!

What do you mean? I think most of the posts on this thread (including mine) have been jovial in nature. {#emotions_dlg.confused1} Well, with the obvious exception of a poster who's not me, lol!

It isn't a French word anyway. The French would not pronounce luxe as looks or lucks. I can't phonetically show you how it would be pronounced, the French u is a sound not found in English, you can approximate it, so,they day, by holding a pencil in your mouth or pursing your ills and saying a long e,

Stacy was fine when she was under the training wing of Mary Beth.....then it was announced she had graduated to full ""host""....boink....fell into the ""Redbull/Monster"" trough.....what a change....take a look at her first George Simonton presentation if you don't believe me.

OK, I pronounce it "luhks" just like you would say deLUXE. That's how Stacey pronounced it as well. I had to go look it up. According to dictionary dot com, it's pronounced "looks", BUT "luhks" is also an acceptable pronounciation.

Seriously?!? I'm been mispronouncing this my entire life, then! EEEEK! In my defense, no one's ever corrected me. Smiley Happy

Nah, you just use the alternate pronunciation! Nothing wrong with that. Personally, and maybe it's just my ugly American attitude, but I find the pronunciation of "looks" to be pretentious. We're not French, we're American!

Luhks, luhks, luhks!!!

In that case, can everyone please stop saying "ompeer" for empire then?

I to have been mispronouncing luxe my whole life. I noticed Stacy is falling into line with the rest of the hosts with her sales tactics, I'm assuming she is answering to someone, so this may not be all the hosts doing. I don't know why the powers that be don't realize that the shoppers who have the money to buy what they want don't care for the hosts to be telling them what to buy and how to spend their money.

OP says its looks.

Wow, OP, you're quite an arrogant, condescending, and self-important hater. And one who assumes that everyone has received a great education, and instantly judges anyone who may not have.

It's quite pathetic that you live in such a small and narrow-minded world, filled with nothing but rarefied air. And that demeaning and degrading others only shows your insecurity,

Oh, and btw, CHANGE THE CHANNEL if watching Stacy - or anything else - freaks you out so much.

Better yet, stop posting negative and derogatory threads in general.

YIKES...John Deer anybody?

To the OP, since you felt it necessary to call Stacy out on an articulation 'error' , it is only fair to point out your syntax error~ I believe the correct phrase should be "don't take it so personally" as opposed to "don't take it so personal". Just saying.... I think Stacy is great, and frankly it is sad to see so many personal attacks on hosts simply trying to do a job.

I am just confused.

I have always said luxe as "lucks" when I pronounced it. I am a complete English language fanatic, so I always try to do the correct thing!

What did the host say that was incorrect?

I'm not sure, hyacinth003, but I wish someone would post a link to the video. Just for curiosity's sake, since it's generated so much discussion.
