I'm looking at a cableknit turtleneck sweater at LL Bean.  It's been a long time since I've ordered from there, and I wondered about sizing.  A couple of the reviews said this sweater ran a size small, but most of them said true to size.  I'm not sure what to do.  I thought about ordering two and returning one.  How does their sizing compare to Loft or Talbots?  I think Talbots runs smaller than Loft.

Speaking just for myself, I have found their clothing to run small and I order up a size. I do love the quality of their clothing and order often.

Re: LL Bean Sizing Question

[ Edited ]

I buy from LL Bean in the winter and find their sweaters usually run normal size.  I wear a petite large and they fit fine.  I am a large in other sweaters also.

Thank you @luvmybeetle .  RetRN said they ran small, so maybe I should order a small and medium.  I think that's what I'll do.

They run true to size...not Q sizes, regular retail sizes.

I always size up when I order Women's clothes from L.L. Bean. I find the sleeves to be a little short, and the shoulders tight. I am 5'9" and a 12-14. I order a Large in QVC, sometimes a Medium in tee shirts.

Also, Bean clothes will shrink! Be warned.

Men's dress clothes do not seem to have that problem, just FYI. I order my husband the top quality wrinkle-free dress shirts and they are fabulous! Expensive but worth the cost. People ask me if I iron his shirts, because of the crease down the sleeve! And they will last a couple years even with heavy wear.

If you need a beautiful Oxford style  shirt for yourself, I admit that I order these shirts for myself too. I love them!

I have purchased slim fit men's Oxford shirts because they still have the pleat in the back and helps reduce the gaposis across the bust. They typically cost less than women's blouses. I also like to wear my spouse's dress shirts as true "boyfriend" fit shirts. My hubby is a good sport about sharing . Smiley Happy

@65and fabulous   Thank you for warning me about shrinking.  That's good to know.  It said to machine wash and lay flat to dry.  I think I'll wash it on cold gentle.

I've gotten conflicting answers about the sizing, so I just ordered two sizes.  I hope I'll love it as much as I think I will.

Re: LL Bean Sizing Question

[ Edited ]

@NickNack  Call LL Bean's Customer Service with your question. They are excellent and will be delighted to help with your own measurements.

In QVC sizing, I wear a Medium (10). At LL Bean, I wear a 10 in jeans but prefer a 12 in sweaters and tees.

None of my 100% cotton denim jeans have shrunk; nor have any of my 100% cotton pima cotton tee shirts shrunk at all over the years. Both go into the dryer without any problems. I've been buying both for decades! That's impressive.
