I know this is not answering the question about Kohl's but I wonder how you post someone's reply in your answer. I have yet to figure that out. Thank you for your help.

You hit reply on the post you want to answer.  When the box comes up, look for the word "quote" and click on that.  Then the post you are answering will magically appear.  I always respond under the quote, but you can put your answer at the top too @elated

Re: Kohls poor sales numbers

My town has two choices for clothing and home items-Kohls and TJ Maxx. The Kohls is definitely understaffed-messy and long lines at the return desk and checkouts. I prefer to shop on their website since I know what brands I like there. I love the J Lo jeans and my Mom likes the Chaps Ralph Lauren. I have some cute Lauren Conrad tops and a few Elle and Vera Wang items. We got some microfleece pj's last year that are awesome.

This local Kohls is always busy but that's because it's almost the only choice. In an area with lots of choices people will probably go where the lines are shorter and the store is neater. Especially during holiday times.

I like Kohls OK but prefer to shop at my local Steinmart - great quality clothing and lower prices on brand names.  If you don't shop the brick and mortar stores then don't be surprised when they go out of business or close poor performing stores.

Then we will be stuck with tons of returns and high return shipping rates.  I'm trying to shop at the b&m stores when possible.

[ Edited ]

When our Kohls first opened, I was so excited to finally have a decent store close. And unlike other Kohls store I had been into, it was very neat and tidy.  That only lasted about 6 months.  They have too many racks jammed on the sales floor and the clearance racks are completely out of control.  I honestly don't even bother with them anymore because it's frustrating.

I do really like the Croft & Barrow short sleeve t-shirts.  I generally buy a few every spring/summer and pay no more than $6.00 a shirt.  I like the quality and certainly get more than my money's worth out of them.

I hate the handbags and the women's shoes.  They are all cheap IMO.  The housewares are nice and I've bought some cute baby clothes also.

@CJC, I'm not sure when the last time is you shopped at Kohls but the policy regarding the Kohls Kash changed.  You now lose your Kohls Kash on a return.  Kohls also changed their coupon policy and now rather than being able to use coupons on anything, there are all kinds of exemptions on the coupons. They are as bad as Macy's.

Hmm....Did they change their policy as of Jan 1st possibly?  I made returns at the Kohls in Augusta GA about 10 days before Christmas, and they gave me my Kohls Kash back.

Re: Kohls poor sales numbers

We have a very poular Kohls here and I try to like it too.  It reminds me of Mervyn's, which I really loved. They are in a position now where people tend to only shop when there are sales.  If you buy something full price you're really being taken.  I don't pay attention to what is on sale so I walk in to look around and it's hit and miss what's on sale.

But one of the most annoying things (to me) are the electronic price displays.  I'm not overly tall at 5'8" but at my height and the height these things are fixed at, I can't see the price~!  I have to bend over to catch the electronic display!  Not on all items, but the ones that I have to do this with are SO irritating to me I get very annoyed!  The ones at my store are fixed and can't be tilted so someone taller than 5'4" could just tilt it up..... nope.  And it gets me every time I go in there....  grump grump....

I'm sorry.  I misread what you posted.  No, if you bought something using Kohls cash, they will refund you the kohls cash back.

If you buy something that earns you the Kohls cash, you use the Kohls cash and then return what you bought that earned you the Kohls cash, they now deduct the Kohls cash from your refund.  In the past they used to give you a store credit in the amount of the Kohls cash.

I hope that made sense.  It's a little confusing.  LOL

That's a shame.  I really love Kohl's.  Their prices on Nike gear is less expensive than Macy's.

Re: Kohls poor sales numbers

funny thing about Kohls, I go in there once in awhile and think hmmm. maybe I'll find something I like. I have bought a few things there but ultimately I end up returning them. Always.

I bought CuddlDuds socks that were warm and soft, after one washing they completely lost the softness, I bought a Dana Buchman handbag, it tore inside in less than a month, I bought a pair of mittens that appeared to be warm and fleece lined, I wore them 2x and the material on the thumbs wore so thin my thumbs almost got frostbitten.

While they may carry lines that in the past were thought of as high end quality, what Kohls sells is not. The Dana Buchman line is junk, Chaps used to be pretty good, now it's just cheap, then material in the clothes. As for CuddlDuds I think they make cheap things and better quality things, Kohls carries the former.

For me it's just not worth it to go in there anymore. Nothing holds up.
