@bells4me  I live in California and have owned several Ruanas by designers over the years. I am 5'2 "petite, and they don't overwhelm me. They are exquisite and chic, and I always get compliments. It can be worn with dresses and pants day or evening.

Re: Kim's Ruana

[ Edited ]

(Yesterday at my church), following "cold snap" this weekend, our class which is located on the northwest side of our building with all glass facing, gets colder then most of the interior or upstairs classes.  So, two of the best-dressed ladies in our class had ruanas.  Each was so beautiful.  One has beautiful hair, eyes and skin; hers was jewel tones which was caught at one side with a (faux) emerald brocade looking pin (looked like from the 50s) with a white (what looked like summer wool) sheath dress with flesh-tone heels and bag.  She looked so elegant. The other had black skirt, black blouse and a vanilla colored ruana.  She had silver teacup heels.  No, I don't go to church to see how everybody is dressed but sometimes some ladies are so elegant, that it is hard not to notice.  The rest, I could not tell you what they had on.
