Thanks very much for this, BeckiWV. "The Swimmer" is one of my favorite movies of all time, starring Burt Lancaster. I forgot Joan was in it.

What a snub, unforgivable!

Umm, she was an actress.

Spaceballs

Shrek2 (voice)

Iron Man

Look Who's Talking (voice of Julie, the little girl)

Muppets Take Manhattan

plus numerous television and stage roles.

Terrible terrible omission.

She was in movies as mentioned above, plus did the Red Carpet shows. Definitely was snubbed. What would it have taken a couple of seconds to honor her with the others? A shame.

Re: Joan Rivers snubbed in Oscars In Memoriam..

Joan always insisted that she was not a "Hollywood insider". To me, this is evidenced by the fact that she was most definitely snubbed at the Oscar ceremony last night, which was shameful. For all of you who insist that Joan had no ties to the film industry, why don't you look her up on Wikipedia or IMBD before you speak off the top of your heads. She most definitely had experience both behind the scenes and acting. Did any of you see Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, which was an autobiographical film about her life which came out a few years ago? I did. If it was ok for them to include "marketing executives", in their In Memoriam tribute, it was certainly proper for them to include Joan Rivers. It would have taken 2 seconds to show her photo. Leaving her out was shameful. photo and would have been the right thing to do.

An unfortunate oversight, to say the least

Re: Joan Rivers snubbed in Oscars In Memoriam..

I do think Joan was snubbed. Deliberate or not, it comes off as a deliberate snub. Who puts these insipid memoriums together? I could have done without Jennifer Hudson singing after they showed the rollcall of people who have passed. Maybe she could have sang while the memorium was playing. I guess the show has to fit in another commercial or the presenters have to drone on and on to show that they are alive and well, let alone the winners. No wonder the ratings were down.

Re: Joan Rivers snubbed in Oscars In Memoriam..

Did anyone read my post here @ #48?..........I know the font is smaller and I can't format paragraphs .........but I think it's worth a read?...........bottom line?..........we all reap what we sow...........fair or not, Joan offended many, including a loved and respected old-Hollywood Elizabeth Taylor........if there was ONE old-timer on the Academy's Board of Governors with a long memory, then no way, no how, was JR gonna get an acknowledging tribute.............Joan could be VERY vocally nasty and biting.............i saw an uncomfortable standup concert that was laced with F bombs just for the sake of F bombs vis a vis celebs......people don't forget that.........And if a person happens to be in a position of authority/final say-so, there's the chance they will exercise the right to have THE FINAL SAY.....I believe that's what happened last night......JR died wealthy and loved by her daughter and grandson..........She also got to appear on the Tonight Show via Fallon' s largesse...........She did OK for herself....not everyone can have it ALL!......I think the attempt by some to canonize Joan is ridiculous.....JMO.... (btw, Joan was the privileged daughter of a doctor from upper class Larchmont, Ny and a Barnard grad.....She succeeded in show biz, thru drive......but .self-made, she was not)
