I've enjoyed everyone's stories. My cousin spotted the dress at our local department store and it was perfect. All lace with puffed sleeves to the elbow, a sweetheart neckline with seed pearls and beads for a just little sparkle and gathered skirt. My cousin called it "Snow White" because it was a fairy tale of a dress. When I went to the store I was told it was discontinued. So cousin and I shopped at several bridal stores and I found a Jessica McClintock dress that was the long version of my mother's wedding dress 40 years before (1946, 1987). Took my mom to see it and we ordered it and were going to go back and shop for the perfect hat--just like she had worn. A few days later the shop owner called and that dress too had been discontinued. So disappointing but she encouraged us to return and we discovered she could order the Snow White dress! It was meant to be. We had a lovely traditional church wedding but 25 year later celebrated by renewing our vows with Elvis' Blue Hawaii ceremony in Las Vegas. The veil still fit.

It wouldn't be a pretty sight, unfortunately😜
My parents were not happy about the marriage so we were married at the court house.
I wore a dress that I already owned. It was a white mini dress with a fitted, embroidered bodice and a v-neck, with a collar, and long sleeves. I loved that dress, kind of hippie, yet demure despite barely covering my rear😊

If I could go back in time I wish I had the same figure that I had in 1982!!!...the gown looked great on me but it was an 80s look and very dated today. I also wore a hat and not a traditional veil.

@Wobin I love your vow renewal story! I told my DH years ago that if we ever go to Vegas I want to renew our vows before an Elvis impersonator...what fun!

I wouldn't change a thing. 43 years here. I loved my dress and did not spend a fortune but it felt like it back then.
