I think I've heard it applied to a LOGO coat. Simulating an animal product doesn't seem strange to me.

What baloney, or should I say “faux steak?” This is marketing double-talk carried to absurdity. There are natural fibers, like wool and silk and there are synthetics, like polyester and acrylic. Please stop insulting us with names that are ridiculous. I wish there were some regulations to put a stop to this nonsense.

I had no idea. Don’t remember hearing or reading anything about it before.  I learned something today.

@ Montana  Check out This Is Why You Should Not Be Wearing Wool PETA and you will never buy wool again.  People are just not aware, or I'm convinced they would be making different choices.  No wool/leather/down....it is heartrendering.

I'm positive C Wonder sold a faux wool coat because I remember wondering what it would feel like.

If you search faux wool in the search bar here, several coats come up including the one I mentioned above from C Wonder and coats from Graver, Dennis Basso, Halston, etc.

Not really a big deal for me. While using “faux” along with wool, leather, etc. may be a marketing strategy, it is obvious from the word “faux” that it is not the real thing. Btw I thought the coat was really nice looking regardless of  material.

I've seen "faux shearling" used before, but never faux wool.

Price is the big factor.

I can make a sweater with "good" faux wool yarn for less than $50.  The same sweater in a wool yarn is well over $100.

The Brooke Shields winter coat is faux wool.  I do believe "faux wool" is a new term.

Acrylic is acrylic, polyester is polyester.  Faux wool?

Has anyone seen faux wool clothing before?Man Wink

Yes.
