I personally think a 50 yr old or older should not dress like her daughters, I don't care what good shape she is in! I would be embarrassed if my mother dressed like that as a teenager or in my 20's!

52 and I just found leggings and skinny jeans, wearing them with riding boots and long tunics and sweaters and love the look. I get lots of compliments.

If you have to ask others and don't feel confident about an outfit, I think you need to listen to your gut in these matters.
It's not age or figure, IMO.

We all need to dress how we feel comfortable and in ways we like--society/the media already has gained so much influence over us, most of which is not mentally healthy anyway so we really don't need to beat up ourselves even more for being who we are.55? Darlin' you're a mere child! I could've babysat for you! I'm 69 and as long as I've got the legs for that, I'll wear the skinnies and leggings and (with all due immodesty!) look darn good doing it! P.S. I want to be D Oro's aunt when I grow up!

I think that style of tunic, leggings, boots can work with multi-age groups.

LOVE leggings, especially with riding boots! Age has absolutely nothing to do with fashion, if you still wear it well!!!

I think I love you, lol. I wish I had thought of your answer because I agree!
OP, I was blessed with a gorgeous mother who rocked younger clothing better than I. I was always proud of her. And she wasn't thin. She was just right. There are no rules in fashion. Whatever makes YOU feel good. Just DO it.

I've seen attractive women aged 55+ look great in the classy look you favor, christina rose.
It's NOT someone's chronological age that matters, it's the healthy attitude and confidence that allows them to pull any look off.

Totally agree! I'm 53 and slim and like to wear shorter skirts and shorts. I know some people would think it's too young looking for me, but most people have no clue what my real age is. I'm very fit and enjoy clothes that look good on me. I think as long as you don't dress inappropriately, sloppy or in poor taste and you look pulled together and chic, than go for it.
I would hate to look frumpy or older than I appear with my style.
