I'm a hood person.  I won't buy a coat without one; made that mistake once with a winter coat. My head gets cold easily.  I wear hoodies in the house and use the hood when my head feels cold.  I also use the hood when I'm out walking and it feels breezy.

On zip up sweatshirts I want a hood. Also on a winter coat that is worn in the snow and cold weather.

I feel the same way about hoods.   There's a solution ....

If the item is a knit fabric - and you have some pinking shears, if you carefully cut along where the hood is attached (cut on the hood side) - you can safely remove the hood and the fabric won't ravel.  The raw edge will just roll up and you won't even see it.

I've safely removed the hoods from all the LOCO cardigans and other "hoodies."

@ALRATIBA   Wow!  I didn't realize you could do that with a knit!  Thanks for the tip!

I agree with the OP!...I really don't like hoods on some tops & sweaters....what to do when wearing a jacket over it?  It seems like a PITA to pull the hood out and arrange it over the jacket's collar.

@bargainsgirl I personally think that hoods are more sporty by nature.  I prefer an item without the hood for dressing up.  Obviously it depends on the look you are going for.

I agree.  Plus,  hoods cheapen the garment I think.  Just makes it look cheap.

Hoods are an element of style, not price.  I won't buy a coat without a hood anymore, because the hoods are not only stylish, they help keep my head warm and dry. ...and I can skip the scarf.

I must admit I find open cardigans (meaning open in the design) with hoods that QVC sells odd.  I don't care to wear open by design cardigans or jackets outside because the clothes are just flying everywhere, and I like them to stay in place.  I guess if one were inside and cold... but I won't buy them.

@bargainsgirl   I agree, I am not a fan of hoods, for me they tend to pull on the garment and I fuss all day keeping it in place.

The next thing to work on is adding closures or a belt to some cardigans.  I am over the open, shark bite, flowy front of most cardigans.

I do not like hoods either.  They are just too awkward.

I love hoods, but detachable varieties would be nice for folks who aren't crazy about wearing hoods.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I am still ox ox, I love hoods too.  Especially in the wintertime & during spring/fall rainy weather.

I don't do hoods for fashion either but they certainly have a practical purpose
