Re: Have slips disappeared from being available ?

I just wore a twill blend skirt to a Church function earlier this month. Was the skirt see through?  No.  Did I still put on a half slip?  You bet I did, lol.

I can't speak to the in-store experience - JC Penney dot com or Vanity Fair dot com have half slips in various colors and lengths.  Not sure about full slip availability.

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

I still have half slips in a few different lengths from years ago.  I was on the hunt for a silky camisole to wear under a silk blouse and finally found some at Dillard's.  Rather than a half slip, I prefer pettipants that are made in the same silky fabric used in slips, no chafing.  Got them on Amazon as I haven't seen them in a store in years.  They perform the same function as a half slip, they're just loose fitting silky pants, not at all like the close fitting slip shorts that are like bike shorts.  The pettipants come in different lengths, even ankle length to wear under unlined white pants.

I wear pettipants instead of a half slip under most of my dresses and skirts. 👍

@wilma I tried wearing them and really thought what a cool idea it was but they made me hot.  My dermatologist advises ladies not to wear because they can create chafing and yeast.  I didn't have either of those but I did get awfully hot and sweaty in the netherlands.

@squirrelsaretrash
Your post about your niece jogged my memory. Couple weeks ago I was at the grocery store after work. I saw a young woman leave with a man walking thru the parking lot wearing a pair of nylon shorts..the kind we used to wear when I was a kid. Elastic waist, short rounded legs with different color piping around the edges.  They were completely transparent except for the piping color. I could see her underwear thru them! I was shocked 😲. I live in a very small rural area. It's not a common site. I used to hate seeing a young man's butt because his pants were hanging down around his knees. Well that fads gone and now we're seeing see thru bottoms on girls. No one is afraid of unwanted attention I guess. Unless all attention is wanted..... regardless of personal safety. You can say that bad things happen to women regardless of clothing but I guess partial nudity is acceptable as clothing now.

As to the OP's Q about slips, wear what's comfortable for you. I wear a slip short under everything but jeans.
There's so many women in my church I'd like to point out that slip shorts and half slips eliminate butt crawl.
That's just a convo that's hard to initiate ya know 😉
