Re: Has how you shopped changed?

My shopping habits have changed because I am more careful in my purchases than I used to be. I don’t go shopping nearly as often. I have realized I have plenty so unless I really need it, I try not to buy unnecessary things. I keep a list on my iPhone of things needed. I still prefer to shop brick and mortar so that hasn’t changed. I make fewer mistake purchases when I see and try things on in person.

Re: Has how you shopped changed?

@shopperqvc I like Chewy and used them once to purchase dog food because I had a coupon from them.  They occasionally send me coupons, but will not accept them for dog food.

It is  convenient to have them deliver, but my local mom and pop pet store is cheaper, about $15 cheaper.  Last year we spent the whole month of Feb in Florida and I also purchased the dog food in a pet store cheaper than Chewy’s price.  They might offer some dog food brands cheaper, but not the brand I buy.

I am so disappointed.  I like their service and the concept of home delivery.  Plus, they have a warehouse not too far from where I live so they employ people in my area.  They are a good company for sure, just not for my needs.

Re: Has how you shopped changed?

Over the last decade, yes, our shopping has changed dramatically.

Clothing is all purchased online, with the exception of a few items from Costco.  My husband buys from LLBean or REI.

As far as everything else--a lot from Amazon.

We do not order groceries online---YET.

We are definitely part of the population  guilty of adding to the demise of brick and mortar stores.

@Carmie sorry it doesn't work for your needs. It was worth a try. I'm hearing that Petsmart might start delivery service. Hopefully a store will be able to fill in where this one didn't.

Re: Has how you shopped changed?

Before retirement worked in corporate world wore suits, dresses, heels and pantyhose (ugh). Always shopped B&M with some "catalog" shopping by phone. Retired and realized I had nothing to wear. Entered the world of the Q & Denim & Co,  Started dieting & eating healthier and lost 50 pounds over a period of a year. Went back to B&M shopping since my size kept changing.  I still purchase a few items a year from the Q but it is less & less due to quality/sizing/pricing issues.  Plus now that I am retired don't need as much !

Re: Has how you shopped changed?

Yes, I shop mostly online now. I rely, somewhat, on reviews and try to purchase from stores with free shipping and free exchanges. Works really well for my lifestyle. I kinda went clothes shopping crazy a little while ago because I lost weight and needed new clothes but I'm good now. Reminding myself to be mindful of collecting stuff just for the thrill. So, Mizrahi, Graver, and C. Wonder...back away...I am (temporarily) immune to your charms. LOL!

@OKPrincess If you are living in okc I can understand why you enjoy mall shopping. There are nice stores well stocked.I did most of my Christmas shopping in the mall this year and it was enjoyable.I actually got excited looking for and deciding on just the right gifts...been so long that I forgot the thrill of the hunt.I didn't have any returns either as I saw and felt and handpicked each item.

Re: Has how you shopped changed?

My shopping has changed since I retired about 5 years ago. Obviously I don't need as many clothes now.
I had a wide variety in my closet and dresser drawers. It took me a while to get it in my head, so to speak, that I no longer needed to look at "work" clothes.
I waited a few months to see how retired life was going to evolve for me, then donated a lot of clothing, shoes, accessories. I still have many nice things to wear for occasions where I need to dress up. I kept mostly classic styles that would not go "out of style" quickly to avoid having to buy new for the few times a year that I need dressier clothing.
And since I already owned "home style" pieces, I didn't have any urgency to buy. Now I just replace when things get worn looking.
So, my shopping is what a lot of people would consider almost non-existent.

Re: Has how you shopped changed?

@TY    My shopping has changed from in stores to online.  So many of the stores do not have enough help and I do not want to wait in lines.  Once you find your size with certain companys, shopping online is fairly easy.  I like tops from JJill and my needs have changed since I am retired so shopping online is fast and stress free.  I also have to use a walker since my hip surgery 2 years ago.  QVC needs to lower their prices especially in clothes and shoes.  Heck, I can buy tops that are on sale plus 40% off the sale price at JJill so why should I pay full price at the Q?  The Q needs to follow in the lines of retail and their sales.  Cat Wink
