Re: Has Anyone Bought Anything In Orchid?

Bought an orchid knit eternity last year, but since we've basically had no winter this year, never had a chance to wear it. I need to move to NYC, ha, ha.

The pictures I have seen of RADIENT ORCHID there is nothing about it you would call pastel. It is a fully saturated color - a pinky purple.

Anything and everything even remotely in that color family is being pushed already by QVC. Saturday during the Dooney show Jill was showing a bag that wasn't close to radiant orchid and was bringing it up as the color the year.

Re: Has Anyone Bought Anything In Orchid?

Two years ago at Ann Taylor I bought a crepe top in the "current" orchid color. It's not exactly sleeveless, but doesn't qualify as a cap-sleeve top. It has a drapey neckline.

Last year, also at Ann Taylor, I bought a lace pencil skirt in that shade. It never occurred to me that the two pieces would match, since most stores vary their colors from year to year. But lo and behold, they match! I wear the top belted with a thin black patent leather belt over the skirt and it makes a nice summer outfit.

After Christmas I bought an orchid long-sleeve knit top with a ruffled placket at LOFT. It was deeply discounted to about $15. I'll wear it in the early spring with jeans on the weekends.

I don't really plan to buy anything else in this color.

That color is a tough color to exactly match; I think wearing black as the 2nd color would make the outfit.

Maybe white would be the other color to wear with this orchid.

Yes, paint. I am using it for the trim for the walls going into my basement. However: if you want to see a knock-out orchid item, pick up some of the Chinese New Year stamps - it is a gorgeous combination of orchid, gold, green, and pink. As for clothing: no, I am sticking with black everything other than blue jeans.

Well, it's January and 11 degrees. Orchids is a spring color that isn't in the stores yet. Having said that, I might buy a top or a tank top in radiant orchid, I do like shades of lavender. But that's a maybe. If a color is too popular, I stay far away from it. I don't like looking like a clone.

You've mentioned in a couple of places (the "first spring purchase" thread, I think) that spring clothing isn't in the stores yet . . . but it surely is where I've been shopping! Many early spring things are available, both at the mall and online. (And, yes, I think I have a tee shirt or two from a previous season in something similar to this color.)

Emerald, on the other hand, is my friend! My spring/summer 2014 wardrobe is shaping up to be navy/white/emerald/coral (I probably won't wear the emerald and coral together, but I love them both with navy).
