I have a few pair of knit pants that need to be hemmed. I don't have a sewing machine and the tailors in our small town are not that great.
Have watched a few youtube videos on how to stitch them, but I'm not sure what kind of thread to purchase.
My understanding is that knits need a more stretchy thread........not cotton....brand names would be helpfu.!.
Thanks.

Amazon sells a press on (no ironing) hemming tape!

You should be OK with "regular" thread. Just use a slip stitch, and don't pull it too tight.

I want to say they suggest polyester thread for knits, not cotton. It should be on the packaging or, of course, if you go to a fabric or hobby store, the staff will know.

@cindyNC. I've hemmed a million pants and I tend to grab whatever thread I have that matches the fabric color. I find that it doesn't make much difference. Most thread sold has a stretchy poly core with a cotton sheath but I also have some old 100% cotton thread and use it too. The stretchy thread is important for machine sewing, not so much for hand sewing.

@cindyNC I have a few spools of clear, nylon thread...matches everything if I don't have the exact color. keeps my sewing box less messy than having too many colors. i have the basics: white, blk., navy, red, bone and my clear.
