Re: Garment Measurements Are Way Off!

[ Edited ]

It is frustrating when the measurements don't match the item you receive.  I'm 5'1", have broad shoulders, smallish bust, smallish waist, larger hips and long legs.  My best friend is my measuring tape and if I want to buy something I get a similar item I have and measure it and compare it to the garment measurements given.  I don't like tight clothing, I like things to skim, not stick to my body, especially in the hip area.  So, when I find something that fits, I tend to buy it in every color.  I'm waiting on a Kim Gravel gauze dress and hope it fits.  I have one from Belk by Wonderly that fits perfectly and I compared the measurements.  I just hope they are accurate, because I ordered a second before I got the first and would have ordered a third yesterday, but I was afraid the measurements would be off..

Re: Garment Measurements Are Way Off!

I've been successful when using the garment measurements. Perhaps it's just the brands I buy, but I've never had to return anything. I don't usually buy the QVC brands.

It might be helpful if posters mentioned the brand they're having sizing problems with.

Re: Garment Measurements Are Way Off!

I always look at the chart....for tops, I go by the bust measurement.

I ordered 3 WWC tops by the chart...and they were ginormous!

The chart may stipulate what the sizes are supposed to be, but that doesn't mean they come outta the factory at those measurements.

They are producing thousands of these items.  If they are bulk cutting, not all pieces in the pile will be the same exact size they are supposed to be.

No biggie, I just even exchanged very easily.

This wasn't the only time, prev. SG items also did not match the chart at all.

I agree with the previous poster, height does matter to me!  I like my tops to be a longer length.  If the model is super tall....I can tell by where it hits on her how it will hit on short old me.

I've said it here a dozen times......one of the many reasons I quit ordering from QVC is because the measurements never matched the item I received.

Re: Garment Measurements Are Way Off!

I always use the garment measurements because they are more accurate than the regular size charts.  I am large busted so that is my major issue.  However, even the garment measurements don't help that much because whether I will need a large or an xl depends a lot on the cut of the top or dress.  Even from the same brands, with the same bust measurements,  there are big differences.

My biggest cripe is they say so an so is 5'9 and is wearing and XXS. What in the world does your height have to do with a top size.  Maybe they should give bra sizes. Just kidding.

@missy mouse    The height has nothing to do with the size but knowing the model is 5' 9" gives me a good idea of what the length of a skirt, dress or pants would look like on me at 5' 4".  It often helps me decide if I want to order a petite or regular length.

The top size would be separate, unrelated information.

For tops I only look at the chest measurement. For pants I look at the low hip and length. I have pretty good luck. The other measurements are too difficult for me since I am not a seamstress.

Re: Garment Measurements Are Way Off!

I quit ordering from QVC because I ended up returning so many things due to inaccurate garment measurements. Today by accident I came across your "Aratta" brand which was VERY expensive, VERY fashionable, and VERY interesting. But when I looked for "garment measurements", there were none. There was a photo at the end of the still shots which showed "body measurements" but who goes by that? My experience with QVC was all that, just annoying.
