Re: Formal attire requested for wedding guests

[ Edited ]

I bought this dress from Kohls online and received it quickly. It's beautiful and would be perfect for a formal early summer wedding. It could also be worn casually. It's that rare unicorn dress that would be perfect for many occasions. I ordered a medium and it a a little tight. I weigh 155 lbs. I immediately ordered the large and I'll see which fits best when I receive the large. I don't have an event! I just thought it looked like a nice dress to have on hand. I have a shrug I can wear with it if needed. With Kohls cash/coupon I paid less than $55. I recommend....

I do hope the bride and groom (separate)  save the cash for the divorce down the road if it comes,  Remember Mom and Dad said keep a little stash for yourself. always when I grew up.. lol. (I listened)

I would take cash gifts and put it in the bank for a little safety net.

Bless the bride and groom for their wonderful day.Heart

How sad to be thinking of divorce before they are even married.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have a black lace pencil skirt that I dug out of my closet and ended up buying this shell and jacket set at Macy's. I think the label is Alex Evenings.  I have shoes and an evening bag so I'm set as long as the suitcase makes it to Oregon. Smiley Wink

@Wobin,

That is beautiful. So elegant and classy!

When my first daughter got married,

I asked her what I should wear and she said to wear anything that made me feel beautiful.

I think you will feel beautiful in thatSmiley Happy

Black Tie means tuxes and formal floor length dresses for women.  Formal attire means suits (as opposed to a tux) for men and dressier than cocktail attire for women. When my boss married the invitations specifically requested formal attire.

@I am still oxox Yes, I do especially when it is specifically stated!  As I stated, it's their wedding and their idea of how they wish it to be, not yours.

@Somertime If a couple is that rigid I can stay home and keep my gift. Its a wedding not the Academy Awards

@I am still oxox - I am late reading this thread. And just wanted to tell you that I LOVED your response.

I know I'm getting old, but seriously, I am not going out and getting formalwear just to go to a wedding. I would plan my migraine way in advance and stay home. I think some weddings are just ridiculously over the top. Laughably over the top.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@Wobin   I love your choice! It seems perfect for the occasion. I think I'd do carry-on, at least for the outfit you'll be wearing to the wedding. Have a wonderful time!
