Fashion from “Rear Window”

[ Edited ]

Grace Kelley fashion from Hitchcock’s “Rear Window” with Jimmy Stewart.

ETA: One of my favorite lines in the movie is after Jimmy Stewart’s character criticizes her. He says her dress, nylons, & heels would never work in all the remote places he goes to take photographs.

Her response is priceless: “Well, if there’s one thing I know it’s how to wear the proper clothes.” 👍

Her character seemed to be quite well to do. When we watched it two weeks ago, I looked up the address she mentioned and it is a far better neighborhood than where Jimmy Setwart's character lived.

@AuntG

Yes. That was Jimmy Stewart’s character’s reason for not wanting to marry her. He said they were from 2 different worlds.

I've always thought Grace Kelly was one of the most beautiful actresses in Hollywood. She always exuded such glamour and class. Plus she had a great story--she gave up her career in Hollywood to marry a prince and became Princess Grace of Monaco.

I saw several Hitchock movies when I was extremely young.  The only one I remember is The Birds.

These costumes are beautiful!

I love the black dress with the sheer sleeves. It could still be worn today.

Women in the 1950's were so thin...tiny tiny waists! What happened?

What happened?  Elastic waist pants.

I love all the fashion in Rear Window especially the white dress with black embroidery.  I also love the fashion in White Christmas.  Just two of my favorites.
