Cute! There have been quite a few granny square pieces shown recently - updated from the hippie days. Almost every crochet book I pick up - there something old made new again!
Pick up a jacket at the thrift shop - it takes about 10 minutes to crochet a square.
Check out Pinterest and search for granny square sweater! I've made a bunch of them!

Oh my goodness, I feel old. When I was a girl my paternal Grandma crocheted a matching granny square skirt and poncho set for my Mom and me. She used red, white and blue yarn. What was old is new again. My Grandma was the best crocheter, you name it and she could crochet it. Good memories. She taught me how to crochet.

@Tallgal One of my cousins taught my daughter to crochet (and knit) one summer vacationing in upstate NY. My daughter was 8 at the time and now at 35 she's still doing it! Me I never got past the square....Lol

Never been a fan of granny Square and I don't care for them plastered on a denim jacket. The shorts are atrocious. Finally Lolakimono offering that doesn't tempt me.

The squares look exactly like an old afghan made by my aunt who crocheted and knitted everything and gave to her sisters (one of whom was my mother). Don't think I want those squares on my clothes. I think I may have two of those throws at least. Interesting but not for me.

OMG..... the only thing I really enjoyed about the 60's!! We all improvised and created our own Jean jackets, embroidered the bottom bells on our jeans and stitched lace everywhere, even bought scrap leather and fur.... Yup, I was a Hippie designer.... LOL!

Farm Rio has some very "wild" prints. I had never heard of the brand until I happened upon it online a few months ago.

50+ years ago, I crocheted a yellow and white baby blanket -- granny squares plus a border. First and last project of my crocheting life.
