Years ago I did wear a belt with jeans when I tucked in my blouses. Today, I seldom tuck in a blouse when wearing jeans.

However, I still tuck in blouses when wearing dress slacks and I wear a belt in the belt loops always.

Guess it depends upon the venue. If I'm casual and in jeans, no belt. It I'm making an effort to dress up, I always wear a belt in the loops of the slacks or skirt.

I've never worn belts until recently and need to due to losing weight.  I do a lot of bending at my job and the world isn't ready to see what they may see without a belt!  Lol

But I've never paid attention to what others do.

@kate2357  I got a chuckle from your post. Last week a vendor came in my work, a young man, and he had to hold his pants up with one hand and try to work with the other. He was struggling with both.   I started to offer him my belt but didn't.  I did get a smile but felt bad for him, maybe his broke.  Hopefully he stoped at Walmart up the street.

@ECBG

I don't like the look of jeans with the empty belt loops exposed either...unless I wear a belt. I don't do the 'half-tuck' either.

In one of  @MacDuFF  threads...'Fashion Favorites (2/11/24)', her pic #11 in her OP is my style if I have belt loops exposed. Otherwise my top covers them Smiley Happy

@kate2357

When I taught, I went to the paint store to pick up wall paper books and paint chips to use in class.

There was a workman at the counter in front of me, leaning down on his folded arms on the counter.

Right in front of me, his unbelted pants had pulled down about 6 inches!  You can't "unsee" something like that!!!!   Ekkkkk......

@faeriemoon  I agree with you where jeans are concerned...a belt is not necessary. Dressier pants, to me, look unfinished without a belt if they have belt loops. I guess it comes down to personal preference. Accessories can make a look.

I saw plumbers tush at the rehab place today on a woman. I think the last time I saw that was when low riders were all the thing...like in 90's or early 2000's? My dh also saw this woman and wondered if I should go talk to her ... maybe she didn't know. Nope...was not going to do that. Pretty sure she knew as she tried hiking the back of pants up. In her case, belt would not have helped.

Sometimes I tuck shirts in - sometimes I don't.  When belt loops are exposed, I prefer to wear a belt.
