Re: Do you own a slip skirt?

I never heard the term slip skirt.  I'm 64 and buy anything or rule anything out due to my age.  I don't own skirts like that because they look too dressy for my casual life.  And I would have to wear Spanx undies under it and I don't wear Spanx or things like it anymore.

Re: Do you own a slip skirt?

Influencers on YouTube have been talking about slip skirts for a few years. I tried one on in a store recently, but it just seemed too much like lingerie to me. Very clingy on my hips and thighs which I didn't like. They're fine for others. Just not for me. I don't see many women wearing them in my city.

Have a good weekend!

Sort of what I would think about it if I tried one on.  ;-)

I didn't tell her I thought they were too youthful but her son did.  I didn't get into this.  I just listened.  She told him it was no different from the leather or faux leather skirt she had, of which she has both.  He said he thought they were for people under 40. For my feeling, I would say 25 and under but I will go with a youthful looking 30 YO.

I would call this a bias cut skirt.  Nothing to do with slips.  IMO this skirt is suitable for all ages.  I don't know how your DIL deals with her son's opinion, so I know I wouldn't get in the middle of that.  I had a friend who was Orthodox Jewish and her son told her her skirt was too short.  She asked my opinion and I said it was fine to me.  But Orthodox Jewish people have beliefs that are different than mine, I know she wouldn't sit in the front of the car with her son.  Apparently not appropriate.  I have heard some Orthodox Jewish people think women should not wear skirts above the knee, but this skirt was longer than that.  This particular friend does not wear a wig, even though I think most Orthodox Jewish women wear wigs or other head coverings.  She told me that basically everyone drew the line with things where they felt right.  I do recall she would wear wigs for special occasions.  I remember another Orthodox Jewish colleague would not watch TV, and we were both big Yankees fans.  She had never seen a game and only listened to the games on the radio.  I remember I couldn't imagine being a fan without ever having watched a game, but she was a fan, and we shared that.

People have different beliefs, and I am OK with that.  If I am asked my opinion, I will share it if I have one and feel the situation calls for it.

Don't know what the issue is with this family, or how they address differences of opinion.  For example, she may wear the skirt to some events, but not events that involve her son to avoid his discomfort.  But I could see some parents deciding to do as they wish and allow their children to learn to tolerate such differences and accept occasional discomfort others may cause us.

Googling bias cut skirts I didn't see anything about age appropriateness, but I did find a mature blogger styling one:

She has a great relationship with her son.  HE teases her a lot and vise versa.  I never saw any family get along as well as the 3 of them so there is no problem with the family dynamic and she probably took it with a grain of salt.  I just listened.  She was not angry, just grinned.

I'm 51 and fat and I rock a slip skirt.  If it's too clingy, size up.

Re: Do you own a slip skirt?

I like the choices in the posted photos.

Especially the dark slip skirts (black, indigo, etc.)

I just thought of something:  Maybe wear a slip dress and top it with a blouse (or pullover / cardigan sweater in the Fall/Winter season).

Anyway, as far as age, any age can wear this type of skirt, imo.

Especially during various year around holidays.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
