Oh yes, cut off jeans!  Then we took lots of time making a stringy hem.

One memorable summer, when I must have felt rich, I cut off my white spring jeans too!

A year or so ago, I cut off wide flared puckered (seersucker) pants.

Made bermuda length shorts.

They are nice and lightweight bermudas now.

I still have the matching blazer.

From the (more or less) seventies.

Now that I'm thinking about it, when I run across my old-ish flared jeans/pants, I'm going to cut them off.

I think I cut off a couple of pair of jeans....but mostly wore shorts I bought that hemmed.

Amazing now what they are charging for ripped or unhemmed shorts and jeans! When mine looked like that, I donated them!

Of course, everyone cut their Levi's and rolled them up.  I also own & ride  horses and have since a teenager.  I had no problem riding in jean shorts and rode bareback 98% of the time.  Still do, but don't wear shorts anymore.

Re: Did You Cut Them Off?

[ Edited ]

I bought a pair of bootcut jeans which were too long for me so I cut off some inches to make them shorter. I left the hem raw, no stitches and they came out of the wash looking great. Not much fraying, just right and they look updated that way. I did have to snip some of the longer threads off the hem but nbd.

Yes, I did! Loved the frayed jeans shorts.
