Re: Define quality

[ Edited ]

When I purchased clothing from QVC I found that Louis, Joan Rivers, and Dennis Basso had the best quality. Never had an issue with any of their clothing. Bob Mackie's line was also very good.

My take is if you tend to buy dressy clothing you would need better quality. Suits, dresses that have to fit perfectly. I wear just casual clothing so Denim & Co is fine. I do wait for good prices. Cotton/poly button downs are my favorite.  My clothes never wear out or fall apart. My older shirts I did notice you no longer see double stitching on the sleeves and double buttons on the cuffs. I see less details to save money. I did get nice shirts from CCB in cotton. I rarely have to return anything. My closet is filled.

Dictionary definition:  the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.

According to that definition, "quality" is in the eye of the beholder.

I'm quite fussy ... my standards on clothing fabrics, designs, workmanship, etc. are rather high.

Not clothing, but here is my story...

Some time ago, I started using a new washcloth that was purchased long ago. It is oatmeal in color and I didn't want to have it looking old washing my mascara off so I "saved it".

Just the other day I was marveling that for as many times as I have laundered that washcloth, it is just like new. It remains soft and there are no traces of "makeup stains".

I believe that washcloth was from a time when fabrics/manufacturing was just better. I don't think we will ever return to that kind of quality.

The only brand at the Q I've had problems with is Susan Graver.  A pair of dressy pants split down the entire seam in back, they were not tight.  A jacket I had of hers was very cheap feeling and ill fitting.

I had a D&co denim blouse that I wore for years, it was so good looking and fit was perfect. Finally had to retire it. I usually don't want clothes to last for years, I get sick of them.
