Re: Contrast Stitching & Denim

Oh I understand now what you were saying about buttons @Andreatoo. Dyed-to-match buttons are more dressy, definitely. You can almost get by with less expensive ones that way. But if the buttons are contrasting then I prefer them to be better quality for sure.Woman Happy

Re: Contrast Stitching & Denim

It all depends on the denim piece.Sometimes I like it & sometimes I’d prefer a more tonal look.I think tonal is dressier overall.

I love denim, all colors and types.  I love the contrast stitching (if done well) for more casual wear, and without topstitching for a more formal look.... love both examples especially the dress!!   Is the dress being sold somewhere??? Woman Wink

Re: Contrast Stitching & Denim

Made me look!  I had to check my black jeans - they all have black stitching.  Now that you mention it,  @suzyQ3, white or another color of stitching on black jeans would look weird to me.  However, I like the white stitching on that jacket above.  Makes it fun and casual.  Seriously looove that jacket!

I also agree about buttons -- buttons can make or break an outfit for me.  There have been a few times that I've purchased a blouse or jacket, then bought new buttons to sew on it.
