Just where does one get their colors done?

@Citrine1 - My friend still does it. There are people around who do. I would look up "seasonal color analysis in my area." I did that and some names came up. You can look at them and see if any appeal to you. Some have studios and some come to your home. They will probably  bring drapes in different colors to put around your shoulders.   Smiley Happy

@bargainsgirl

It was a combination of me in a dressing room looking in the mirror and seeing which colors I thought looked best and those that were ghastly!

.... and

The comments of others regarding what I was wearing.

(And - my sister who didin't hesitate to tell me when I was wearing something that wasn't a good color for me.

Yes, @bargainsgirl I've had my colors done. Oh so many years ago, like over 30 years I believe. My colors haven't changed. Once your'e a season you are always that season. However, there are different shades of the same color you could choose from that you may prefer on your aging skin.

I loved it and still go by it. Unlike other posters who state they KNOW what looks good, or they don't care they just go for the  "happy" colors, these colors may not be the best for them. If they are happy with them that's fine. But, I use to love Teal and would buy everything teal. I thought it looked good on me. After having my colors done I realized there are so many other color choices that look much better on me. As we age it is better to stick with your season as we look more washed out and ashen in the wrong color.

Knowing my season helps when I am offered several different color options. I know which ones to eliminate, even though I think they are pretty.

I'm a winter by the way.

I would suggest you go on youtube and watch Justine Lecont's video on color coding.

Amazon still has the paperback of Color Me Beautiful which has a lot of the color palettes.  I suggest you order it.  You will see how colors work toghther.

Has anyone ever had their color chart done to see what colors look best on them?  I have coloring like Courtney and Amy but now my hair is silvery(mostly around my face) and salt/pepper.  Some colors make me look washed out so I am trying to figure out what works best for me now.  I think I would be considered "warm".

@bargainsgirl

Yes.  I was the local model for a main salon because I am hard to type.  Since I taught color, I easily stepped into color coding.

You match skin tone, NOT hair which is but a clue. Colors never change because skin tone doesn't change.

I prefer Justine Leconte.

Had mine done at Fred Segal in L.A.   They were spot-on.     I had been wearing "warm" colors, because my natural hair color is "darkest brown".

As it turned out, I am a "cool"....(like FROZEN).     I progressively changed into cool fashion and makeup, and it made a HUGE difference.

Yes, I went to a Color Me Beautiful seminar back in the 80's with a friend. She and I were both surprised that we'd been wearing the wrong colors all our lives. We were given fabric swatches of our best colors. It was a good experience. Buying my best colors became a habit.

When my blonde hair turned silver, I made a few makeup color changes. But, I've worn the same lipstick 50 years. When it works, it works!

The original Color Me book was the best clarifying book for me when it came out.  As several, posters have mentioned, over time your complexion changes.

In the early 70's I had a dark rust pantsuit that I loved.  Now whenever I put that color near me, it is awful !!!  My hair is still similarly colored.  The complexion has changed obviously.

When I am in a clothing store, if I find myself questioning the color of a top, I just stop:  it is clear that the color does not work for me.  No room for doubt: it is great or it isn't !!!

Re: Color chart?

[ Edited ]

I honestly don't give it that much thought; I know what colors I am drawn to, and those I stay away from.  If I feel good wearing a certain color, I wear it.  🤷‍♀️
