A long time ago I had a professional color analysis. They did clothes, hair and makeup. I still go back to that when I buy new stuff.

I had my colors done many years ago, but don't recall what season I was supposed to be.

To this day, I still adhere to two things that made a huge difference .... never wear stark white, only ivory. The other was to change from yellow gold to sterling silver or white metals. The pink in my skin worked against any yellow metal jewelry.

It was a real eye opener.

We used this book, too! Way back in the day my mom and aunt followed the book and did the whole family's colors. I am a winter!!

A few years ago, a friend met a woman that did "her colors" and she was very happy with it. She paid a couple hundred buck for the info and fabric swatches. She suggested I do it, too. LOL. I was like that old thing, coming back around. But it is good info and I have been following it for a long time.

Yes, had mine done a long, long time ago at a home party. Came with a book of color swatches (like a paint color swatch book but smaller). My hair color & very fair complexion are still the same. Can still use that knowlege to some extent.

Knowing "my colors" may have worked fine for a time, maybe just validated what I already knew, maybe made my wardrobe too diverse for a while. As others have said, it definitely helped with metals/jewelry and steered me toward some core, basic colors (which is how I prefer to dress).

Maybe try the books or exercises others suggested. Can also recommend Trinny & Susannah's "What You Wear Can Change Your Life" book circa early 2000s - has an entire chapter on color. Don't know of anywhere doing color wheels today.
