I've been watching the old (very old!) TV western re-runs with my elderly father every day.  What I've noticed on The Big Valley is that Barbara Stanwyck's character has the same complexion coloring and silver hair that I do, and she wears light lavenders and light blues in almost every episode.  Makes me chuckle because I usually wear lavenders and light blues, along with some light greens and pinks, every day.  Makes my old complexion glow - teehee.

I don't really like the old westerns, but now look forward to see what colors "Victoria" is wearing in each episode.  When she was lost in the desert and dying of thirst, she had on a spiffy culotte outfit with matching leather gloves and colorful scarf at the neck.  Even in 50-year-old TV shows, I watch to see what clothes the ladies are wearing.

She was a stylish one.Good for her that , likely she had it in her contract  as a big name star that she was going to wear movie quality outfits. Thanks for sharing , I had almost forgot abt  how stylish she was in each episode.

I don't remember her style so much, I just remember her as a very stately, elegant woman. Thanks for the memory

I loved Stanwyck's riding get-ups on The Big Valley.  The outfits were usually slim black riding pants or gauchos worn with a black leather vest or jacket.  There were a few brown and green suede pieces thrown in over the run of the show, but usually, when she was away from the mansion she was dressed like one bad ****** lady in black.  She may have worn a white blouse on a handful of occasions, but I recall the blouses most often light blue or lavender.  Her boot collection was to die for.  It is a testament to glamour and sophistication that Barbara Stanwyck was in her 60s on The Big Valley and looked better than ever.  She completely overshadowed the lovely Linda Evans (who was in her 20s), when they appeared in the same scenes together.
