With all the changes in lifestyle the past 2 years, is there still such a thing as "Classic" Everyday clothes?

(I'm not talking about classic expensive designer or evening apparel; I'm talking about what we wear everyday.)

There are more people working remotely from home, and some people have chosen to quit their jobs. Sometimes, venues/events get cancelled or postponed. Shopping online rather than going to b&m stores has greatly increased. In other words, people are staying home more than they used to.

So, what's considered "Classic" in our "mostly at home" lifestyle?

Idk what "Classic" everyday clothes are anymore.

In the past were unadorned jeans, suits & blouses for work, cardigan sweaters, and T-shirts our Classic everyday clothes?

Are joggers, pj's, leggings, lounge sets, & tunics the new Everyday "Classics"?

Is it camo or leopard?

What is "Classic" everyday apparel for 2022?

Could it have joined The Great Resignation?

Re: Classic Everyday Clothes

COVID has cancelled style and fashion.  Even though I reallly don't need anything, I always enjoyed watching the fashion shows and sometimes saw something special.  Unfortunately, PJs and stretchy clothes is all I see.  Sorry.

I have no idea what the fashion mavens are calling the classics of late, but to me it's kind of what it always was...some examples..

Blazers and dress denim, with a smart shell, or "crisp white shirt" or sweater underneath, with a pump, or boot...classic.

I nice cashmere sweater, with jeans or slacks...classic.

Pencil skirts..classic.

Little Black dress, classic.

Long tunic sweater over leggings can be classic too, with some nice boots and smart jewelry.

Anyhoo...those are some for me.

Ps. I miss wool dress coats. I tried to find one for my mom the Christmas before she passed a few years ago...all the b&m stores where I used to find them had puffer coats by the tons and no dress coats anymore. I could use a new one...don't know where to look anymore. Any suggestions??

Covid's done enough damage...I'll be darned if I won't let it make me remain in my jammies for my everyday life now! (I love my cozy jammies too...at late evening and bedtime...not to go to the grocery store in. Just sayin'..)

All the rest, to me...are "play clothes." And if people working from home or retired, wish to live in their comfy clothes all the time, or it's a generational thing to be in athletic gym wear much of the time, that's fine... casual, athlesure wear to me...not classics. Jmho. 🤷‍♀️

pps. Camo joggers...ad....nauseum. Nuf said.

Re: Classic Everyday Clothes

Classics are good styles that stood the test of time.  They are always in style, but occasionally return at times as trendy over the years.

Will athleisure fade away permanently after this trendy phase dies down?  Often designers look to the past and design similar styles that were duds years ago presenting them as new.  There will be younger women unfamiliar with those styles who will buy them.

For me around the house, casual classic is pants in the winter, those long ones we are familiar with, in denim or cotton. Bermuda shorts in the summer.  I may wear a t-shirt and/or plain sweater in cotton.

I wear Birkenstock's Arizona around the house all year long.  Wear socks if my feet get cold.

It's clothing I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear to the grocery store, but I do change my clothes to go shopping.

Re: Classic Everyday Clothes

@Foxxee I think of "athleisure" as a category that developed when working out became such a part of people's lives, and active lifestyle etc....I think it's got a valid place in our lifestyles, and here to stay. Some of it's great looking and flattering on when done well. Some of it's also very expensive...but those are generally the ones that flatter and look pretty cool on.

To me that's different than the over abundance we seen of comfy jogger sets etc, like pictured here, as our everyday wear that everyone seems to attach to "Covid times" ...and it probably did have a lot to do with it. But who knows...orders had to be in before Covid hit, so maybe it was becoming a thing anyway. And I think it's a QVC thing more than other sites. I still see the classics at sites like, Banana Republic, J Crew, (though they probably cater a lot toward young professionals) and other such sites.

There's something for everyone out there usually.

At any rate...I agree that "the classics" are the same as they've always been, and stand the test of time.

@Desert Lily These are pajamas.  Classic clothes are pants and top.  Not baggy knit or fleece wild colored things.

Pants can be knit but have to look like real pants or well fitted jeans, not pjs.  Top has to be neat, clean and simple to be classic.  NO rock band or message t-shirts in my definition.

I think it depends on where you live.

I'm in a high rise apartment  buildiing in Manhattan .... in and out of my apartment and up and down in the elevator several times a day - every day.

I'm retired and I don't dress any differently today than I did pre-COVID:  casual shoes, pants and turtleneck.  I do my hair and wear makeup everyday because I'm in-and-out everyday.

The black and white buffalo checked lounge set that Deanna is wearing in the photo could be a 'classic'.   Maybe in a smaller check?

I do like this lounge-classic look, and the top would look presentable in remote working settings.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

I like the set Deanna has on...it's cute. I wouldn't wear it out...still looks pj, lounge wear, but it's fine for that. Best looking one in the bunch, to me. But I'm not into camo and animal prints.

@ALRATIBA  I may not live in Manhatten, but I also dress just like I have always dressed. COVID has not had an impact on my wardrobe or makeup or hairstyle! That's the sorriest excuse for laziness I've heard. Glad to read you also continue to maintain an impecable appearance in spite of QVC constant sales of "at leisure" apparel (which I own NONE of).

I recently tried the Denim & Co. Sports Savvy line which years ago I had loved for tennis and golf. The top was more like a tunic in length and was returned the following day. Huge dissapointment since I won't wear baggy tunics!

Today I noticed Denim & Co. has yet another line of MORE leisurewear which is boxy and fails to do anything for the female body or has any redeeming qualities as far as construction or materials. Why would anyone purchase such junk? It's beyond my comprehension!

Wake up Women: Dress yourselves FOR yourselves. Gary Gobin doesn't dress you for attractiveness, happiness, or success. He dresses customers in inexpensive fabrics and easy-to-produce styles to make money for QVC!  The bottom line is all he cares about.

You must take over your own closets and dress in classic styles. Get out of those horrible PJ-type things QVC calls "leisure wear". Your depression will lift immediately when you dress for yourself! (Don't blame that on COVID. It's those sloppy things you've been wearing for several years.)

Money screams; wealth whispers.
