Lately I seem to have a love/hate relationship with cardigans. I wore a jewel-neck style today in a color I'd describe as apricot, purchased from Talbots last year at the end-of-summer sale. At the time, it seemed like a good basic for a good price. Today the cardigan felt big and I wasn't happy with my choice of the layering piece underneath. I felt like a big frump all day.
Conversely, whenever I wear my Ann Taylor fall-winter cardigans, or my three Talbots cardigans purchased this spring, I feel like I look better. I know for a fact these Talbots cardigans are more fitted than last year's styles, so perhaps that's what I need to look for in future shopping.
My Anthropologie longer flyaway cardigans have been a staple in my wardrobe for more than two years, but lately I haven't been pleased with how they look on me. Again, it's probably due in part to my choice in layering pieces. However, those loose cardigans don't really show off my shape and might, in fact, add pounds.
I'm starting to re-think several of the pieces in my closet! What's your take on cardigans? What style do you prefer?
