Depending on your location, Greendrop picks up and you get to choose which organization the items should go to.  I always choose Red

Cross.  They sell the items to thrift stores in the area and the proceeds go to disaster relief.

Our donation center is still open. Only a few days a week though now. I live in a very rural community and there are a lot of people of want here. We always donate a LOT.

I gave clothing to a local center just last week.  We are only allowed to donate clothing for the current season as they don't have the storage capabilities to keep winter coats and boots year round.

The charaties here are so inundated with clothing, I heard one is selling them by the pound.  They're charging $1.29/lb regardless of what the items are.  I think the last thing they need are more clothes.  Too many people have spent their excess time cleaning out closets.

Redcross for Northern Calif. is suggesting not to donate used clothes, COVID19. Money is best to donate. Canned foods, take up too much space.

Viet Nam Veterans has pulled out of many states. Be sure to check in your area to see if they are still collecting. That number has not had any service in any middle states of the US for a couple of years. Most veterans have reached their 70's or older and no longer are volunteering.

Check for a Women's Shelter in your community. They almost always need clothing and often need children's clothing.

Money screams; wealth whispers.

Selling by the lb.  usually means it is sold as scra, rags.ect. (we are a hauling contractor family., large company, "famous" garbage men (  ie Soprano.lol ).......    and all  the "scrap' companies buy stuff by the lb.  So if that is happening it is going to the "rag" man, for $$$$  not  people in need .......(for a bigger price of course)

@MalteseMomma    I'm familiar with the textile recyclers but this charity is selling to individuals in their store.  I bet recyclers get a much better price.
