It sure has been "interesting " & entertaining too!

Gone off the rails with silly arguments.

it doesnt bother me in the least what OTHER PEOPLE choose to wear at breakfast. i travel and see it all from airports, to restaurants, to pools, to lobbies, to bars, to casinos.....pretty much anything goes these days.

i just don't notice this stuff anymore.

i seem to be focused on myself and who i am with.

happy to be physically able to get out and about

happy to be able to enjoy time with friend/loved one

happy to be able to fund such outings

what some stranger wears or how they wear it is not in my judgement zone.   i guess my people watching days are over.

short version:

non issue

@TheMemphisVette I agree with the bolded...I am so very grateful that I can still get out and be able to have the funds to do so.

However I still enjoy people watching.

@haddon9

I don’t think the robe provided in rooms is for the purpose of going to breakfast. Most people don’t pack robes in a suitcase & to have one available if you are cold or for any purpose, it’s a convenience, not suggesting you wear it to breakfast.

We travel a lot but mostly out of the US. I’ve never seen anyone in PJs & robe at breakfast. Even on the river cruises, no one goes to breakfast in night clothes.

I would not go to a public location in PJs. I take a shower before breakfast & wouldn’t put clothes on I wear to bed. However, if I did see PJs at breakfast, as long as they were tasteful & descent, it wouldn’t bother me.

I realize that as my first post on the Forum, I will roasted as most first timers are.  But I have to reply to this one.

In no way are PJs appropirate in any public place.  Hotel restaurants are public places.  Not the same as one's home.  Especially overseas.  Virtually every other society wears approriate outerwear.  It is disheartening to realize when one is visiting someone else's country and home- the people parading around in PJs and slippers are-- by far and away Americans.  We are currently in Marrakesh- actually overheard a French couple making fun of a group of Yanks dressed at breakfast like they were in their dorm rooms...

The point is- one represents all of us with our dress and behavior.  And it often isn't stellar.  I would rather be proud to be identified as American than embarrassed.

One represents all of us with our dress and behavior? I think not.

I also think there are far more embarrassing things in 2024 about being an American than how one of any American dresses in another country. I have enough embarrassment about the behavior of many Americans while in this country to have any left over about pj's or slippers or robes or white sneakers or anything else in a foreign country.

Those French people in Marrakesh frankly sound like elitist snobs. People in other countries sure don't mind the tourist dollars from Americans and vice versa.

as a person who has family who lives all over the world, BOY is THIS the truth @Greeneyedlady21 ! americans are not necessarily well liked and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with what they are wearing at any given time!

A Man Who Boozes
An Irish Poem of Unknown Origin

It was a year ago, September
a day I well remember
I was walking up and down
in drunken pride
when my knees began to flutter
and I fell down in the gutter
and a pig came by and lay down by my side

As I lay there in the gutter
thinking thoughts I could not utter
I thought I heard a passing lady say,
"You can tell a man who boozes
by the company he chooses..."
And with that, the pig got up and walked away.
