I walk to work in downtown Cleveland. I love these scarves and have one to match each coat.

Scarves are very handy, you can wrap one around your shoulders, or around your head. I just received a beautiful scarf I ordered from the big A, it's super soft and so warm! Love it.

@SportyShorty07  Like you, I cannot carry very large scarves or other styles meant for taller people. I love and wear scarves, just not oversized ones.

 At my tallest, I was 5'1 1/2". Now, I'm less than 4'11" at 76.

That must be why my back hurts most of the time. As we age, we lose the cushioning between our vertabrae.  Smiley Sad

I hope that I don't get any shorter, I'm tired of re-hemming my clothes that are getting to be too long.

@Enufstuff  I bet that you look absolutely lovely at your 4'11" height Smiley HappyHeart- even though we're little, let's own our 4'11" heights and make the most of every inch! I've learned that I can usually wear what I want as long as I really consider the lengths and proportions of clothing and prints.  Some things will never work for me though- I remember I bought thigh high boots and they looked like hip wader river fishing boots on me Smiley LOL.  I bought a midi skirt once and it was a maxi skirt on me.   I bought a "ho-bo purse" those big ones that were popular in the early 2000's and it looked like I was carrying santa's bag of gifts! If the stripes on a striped shirt are too wide, I feel like the McDonald's Hamburglar! Smiley Very Happy

I've had to hem things too for sure- but I've found that ankle length skinny jeans in a short inseam are perfect on me.  You know, there are some benefits to being short- we can fit into small cars, we don't have to worry about leg room on a plane, and I've found that my body is great for weightlifting and aerobics- we're small and mighty.  I'm 35 and 4'11" and I suspect that when I am in my 60's or 70's , I'll probably be 4'9"- as long as I have a ladder or stepping stool to reach high cabinets or changle light bulbs, I'm going to roll with it! My gal pals are in their 70's and they've shrunk in height too- one of them loses about an inch each year and I love them just the same!

Also, in terms of back pain, have you tried epsom salt baths? They're wonderful for sore muscles or aches and pains.  Smiley HappyHeart

@SportyShorty07   You are very sweet and adorable! I saw your picture in Outfit of The Day.  You are also very funny, "hip waders" and "Hamburglar"!  I do avoid horizontal stripes.

You are correct about some of the benefits, like fitting into small spaces and some of the physical benefits, like aerobics.

I worked at a couple of women's health spas and taught aerobics, when I was your age. For years I practiced yoga, until arthritis became a painful problem.

I read that you lift weights. My daughter got into body building and competing. She has always been athletic. She's also only 5' tall. I have weights, but nothing heavy, just for fitness. Too much pain in my shoulder to do that now.

For many years, I danced and was in Middle Eastern shows.

I think that petite dancers look more graceful than tall lanky girls with those long arms. Many dancers that I know are more on the petite side.

When it comes to pants, only petites will do. I don't need the crotch drooping halfway to my knees. What does not make sense to me is , in some catalogs they will list petite pants or jeans with a 29" or 30" length. That is not petite. Heck, my 6'1" husband wore a 32" length.

I love finding ankle length pants; they are just right. Short petites are good too, if you can find them. Now, that I'm retired, I mostly wear caftans at home. I'll dress them up with

jewelry sometimes. My daughters call me Mrs. Roper. You are

very young and may not know who that is, unless you watched

"Three's Company" re-runs. Mrs. Roper was the landlady and she always wore caftans and big jewelry.

I don't feel short unless I'm standing next to a six foot tall person or can't reach something on a high shelf. Thankfully, my husband or son can reach for me or I use one of those grabber things.

I try not to climb anymore, if I can avoid it, now that I have two bad knees and arthritis in my feet.

Speaking of knees, I have been trying to find tall knee high boots for a few years now. Most are too tall, heels too high or made for people with very skinny calves. I don't need large calf boots, but my legs are more athletic, not slender.

Well, this fall I got lucky at DSW. I found Eurosoft boots that come just below my knees, zip up comfortably and are nice and cushiony inside and have 2" heels. I got two pairs, brown and light taupe. Of course, as soon as I bought them, the weather got unseasonably warm. I went back to my Birkenstock sandals, so I haven't worn the boots yet. I've been in the house for three weeks, taking care of my 85 year old husband who had hip replacement surgery.

Next week, I'm going out to a nice restaurant with my cousin,

so I will wear a pair of the boots with a new dress in  fall colors.

I'm so accustomed to living with arthritis pain for the past 15 years, I hadn't thought of trying epsom salts. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have to try it.

@Enufstuff  You are so right and spot on.

I started ballet lessons as soon as I could walk.  Then came acrobatics and tap.

Well at 13 I had to drop out.  I got too tall.  Ballet, acrobatics is much better for the shorter stature.  I was so unhappy.

I got into volleyball, etc, Smiley Sad

Re: Big Fringed Scarves Are Trending!

@Pink123   That is so sad that you had to give up dancing and acrobatics. Of course there is something for everyone and you found volleyball. I was never one for any sports. As you might guess, I was always the smallest and the last one chosen for basketball. In high school, I was 4'11". My things were dancing , roller skating and ice skating.

My three daughters started dance classes at three years old, with tap and ballet. My oldest girl stayed with tap until her second year of high school. My second daughter stayed with acrobatics until high school and then did cheerleading. My youngest daughter stayed with ballet, even through her college years. She then taught ballet.

My girls are all petites and loved dancing.

P.S. I always wished to be taller. Smiley Sad
