I had one cardi I bought here years ago---was merino wool. I never washed it but I did have de -pill the darn thing almost everytime before I wore it again. Got tired of that and I donated it. And the darn thing grew--I folded it up and didn't hang it, but it ended up about a size bigger than I  was---a one and done purchase for me.

LOL  Sounds like these sweaters may be a maintenance nightmare...I think I am going to send it back.

I have had two for years and have never had a problem.  One is long like a coat, and I get tons of compliments when I wear it.

@Kachina624 - I bought one for DH for one of the holidays (can't remember which one). The green looked so good on him, and he wore it frequently. He left it on a chair, and picked it up a few days later to find a whole.

Our friend fixed it for him, good as new. He was careful to put it away on the shelf in his closet. The hole opened up again. He didn't want to tell her what happened, but he told me to never get him one of the Irish sweaters again.  Smiley Frustrated
