How do you care for your AC sweaters?  The rep said to "air them outside" to "clean" or dryclean them.   Need some tips before I decide if I want the maintenance to keep the sweater.  Thanks!!!

I have never needed to dryclean my Aran Craft.  Never wash them either.  I have several.  Their reps always say to just air them out.

Yikes @bargainsgirl and @Beammeupscotty , just air them out and never clean them? I can't wear wool. Not only do I find it itchy no matter the quality, I live wear it never gets cold enough for wool. 

The thought of never cleaning an apparel item kind of grosses me out.

Well, the sweaters are not like underwear or such.  Mine are worn over my clothes when I go out.  I often wear them in the winter instead of a coat and I don't get hot in them either.  So they really don't need laundering just like a coat wouldn't.

@Beammeupscotty   You do not clean a coat?   I never heard of that. I send my coats to the cleaners at the end of the season. If you put a coat away without cleaning the moths will get to them.

I never have.  And they don't smell bad or anything.  Never had a moth in anything. Maybe because I live in the north?

This I found posted on the AranCrafts dot com website on their FAQ page:

"How do I care for my new garment?"
"The golden rule is wash as seldom as possible and air frequently. We call this ‘wind-washing’, hang your garment out in the air and you will be amazed at how fresh it becomes. Never machine wash; they should be washed by hand using wool washing detergent and in cool water below 30 degrees Celsius. Always dry your jumper flat and never put in a tumble drier."

I left my brand new Aran vest out after unpacking it.  The next time I picked it up several months later, the moths had eaten a saucer-size hole in the back.

I would never sent a nice wool sweater to the dry cleaners.  Just hand wash as needed and make sure at the end of the season that they are clean before storage.  For me, since I wear them for dressing nicer with a blouse, they do not get so dirty.

I agree with @Janey2 , I DO clean my coats. There are outside elements that can dirty an item. Sometimes you can't see them, dust, pollen, rain, not only your perfume but others around you, etc.

I leave a heavy white colored coat with my daughter in Colorado so when I visit I don't have to lug a heavy jacket. It has been there for a couple years, I seldom wear it. Well, ironically this last trip I decided to launder it as it is machine washable. It didn't look dirty but after washing? It came out so white it was amazing how dirty it was with the limited times I wore it. You couldn't really tell it was dirty as you couldn't see the "dirt".
