I know of 2x when ultrasounds were wrong.  After several miscarriages, one of my daughters coworkers was informed her baby was a girl.  She was ecstatic over the pregnancy; went all out with a very girlie nursery, and delivered a baby boy.

I just happened to be zooming through an old Shoe Shopping with Jane before erasing it from the DVR and saw Amy. It was the day of the Earth bootie TSV, so not terribly long ago. They were talking about the SSWJ family expanding and Amy's due date around Thanksgiving, and Amy said on that show that "he is actually due on Black Friday." So at some point, she did know that she was having a boy.

ETA: It's in the video for item number A300000, about 25 seconds in. She clearly says "he."

I'm not sure why people are surprised by the gender thing.  It's not 100% and they tell the parents that there is a margin for error, it's small but it does exist.  Mostly when boy fetuses appear to be girls.    It's why neither of my girls did the Gender Reveal party thing.  They knew but the whole world had to wait until the babies entered this world and it became official.
