I think it's just a brand name.  I still see quite a few items of Dunner at Kohl's.  It's primarily always thought of as for mature or older women.  It's not cheap either!

@Biftu My mother always wore this brand and it was always good fabric and well made. She is gone 10 years so I have no clue what its like these days

JC Penney carries this brand as well, used to buy the petite pants for my mom years ago but she still had to hem them up a bit, the quality of their fabrics was good, don't know what it is now.

I am not 100% sure but think it was a division of clothing in name only.   My mom would purchase this brand at JC Penney along with Sag Harbor years  ago to wear,  back in the 80's.

Drapers and Damon carries Alfred Dunner and has for years.  They are on line and also send out a beautiful catalog upon request.  Drapers has been around a long time and I have ordered from them frequently.  Their clothes are good quality and up to date designs.

I use to purchase that brand for my Mother back in the 80's!  I always found it very matronly. Now I am of "that age" but the styles still look matronly to me.

I think quite a few of Denim & Co current styles resemble Alfred Dunner pieces that I have seen in catalogs..I am a QVC customer for 30 years + and personally think that their items from 10 to 15 years ago were more stylish. I  have a black v neck shirt with black leather like quilting on each shoulder..It is my favorite top..it has not shrunk, the quilting has not changed and it is not polyester and spandex. Just my personal experience..

I've seen it at Kohl's.
