Re: About Reba's Buckle

[ Edited ]

Reba appears in the belt buckle often and has throughout her career. I think she wore it on The Voice.

Her rodeo discovery was attributed to Red Steagall. I remember being told how the recording company was concerned about capturing her voice. It was so strong they weren't sure it would record with her true sound.

Even if it is only decorative, it is a very common piece of clothing where I live.  There is nothing unusual, odd, or uncommon about a belt buckle of western style.  No reason to think other than "Oh, it's a belt buckle."

Re: About Reba's Buckle

I am a big Reba fan as well. She sang the National Athem as an American- as it should be sung.  Her story of how she was discovered singing the National Anthem and now in 2024 after years of success, her career has come full circle.  That is what the  American story is all about.  I had the pleasure of meeting her in Nashville and she is just as gracious and beautiful as you could imagine.  There was no one more perfect to sing at the Super Bowl than her.  She brought the house down and gave everyone the true feeling of this celebrated day in America.  I had tears in my eyes just listening to her sing from the heart.  She is a legend.

Before the breakout performance of singing the national anthem at the rodeo finals, Reba was not only the daughter of a rodeo man but participated in events.  My memory may be fuzzy, but several years before marrying Narvel Blackstock, I believe her first husband was a rodeo man.

I'm not just saying this because I became a fan after hearing her record "You Lift Me Up to Heaven" back in the late 1970s, but she sounded terrific and looked good at SBLVIII.  It was a beautiful sentiment to wear her father's trophy belt buckle. I liked her complete outfit. I am guessing that she wore some outasite boots with those sparkly jeans.

Due to the fact that I have red hair and probably that I sing (not like her), I've been asked a couple of times to be Reba in some fun skits at church.  We had to come up with some of our own content and answer some questions, and although our answers didn't need to be factually based, I did research her a bit.

I came into the room singing the chorusn to Fancy since I figured that would be a very recognizble song of hers.  I also told the story of the first time she sang at the Grand Ol Opry.  To begin with, she had trouble getting in since none of the staff knew who she was.  And then, Dolly Parton sang more songs than had been planned and that left Reba only enough time to sing one song.  I ended my story with saying "Bless her heart" to Dolly who was one of the other actors.  (There's very obvious reasons I wasn't chosen to be Dolly, LOL).  I thnk the lady who did play Dolly used balloons.

I can't say I'm a huge fan, but I do like her and have great respect for her.

Actually she didn't sing it correctly.  Most Americans don't.  The error is in singing the word banner.  Banner is sung with only two notes.  It is not correct to sing ban er er yet et wave.

I should be sung ban ner yet et wave.  I was hoping she would get it right.

She did sound wonderful though.

Actually, that piece of music says ban er er ye et wa ave. Note the notes tied together.
