Re: AM Style Chat - December 26th

Now for the continuing saga of truck driver daughter, lol.

 She does not drive for FedEx, but picked up a load for them somewhere in Ohio and delivered it to Chicago, she delivered it ontime. She was waiting to get her next load info that was supposed to head her towards home for the holiday with her children when her truck broke down, it was towed to a dealership and she was going to be in a motel till sometime next week which is when the dealorship told her they would even get to her truck to look at it. The company she drives for rented a car for her to drive the 400 miles to get home for Christmas (which was nice of them to do). Anyway, she did get home on Tuesday night around midnight, so all is well for her holiday also.

@Snicks1

It's great that your daughter was able to make it home to her family.  What does she do when she gets a flat?  I know semi trucks have multiple tires but I've always wondered - who changes the flat?

Re: AM Style Chat - December 26th

God Morning, Stylers! I had a very, very late night last night, just got up. I haven't slept this late in years! Will have to go through the chat a little later in the day. We got deluged with about a foot of snow overnight. I had to body slam my back door to let puppy out this morning. Putting my snowshoes on later and going for a trek with the little guy.

[ Edited ]

@Bird mama, they call road breakdown, they send someone out to change it. It's all a process, sometimes the wait can cause a late delivery. They also can swap out a load with another truck if a breakdown happens and the original driver can't make ontime delivery for some reason. So far, in her truck driving career, she has not had any late delivery. That was a good question, bird.

Edited to add: if it's an inside tire, and they don't have too far to go, they can sometimes drive on it for a little ways.

Thanks for getting us started @Bird mama.  I'm headed out for a walk before it gets too hot out.

Have a good Saturday, ladies!

Re: AM Style Chat - December 26th

Speaking of broken down vehicles, I saw the strangest thing on the way to work Wednesday.  It was so weird to me, I took a picture on my phone.

I've seen flat bed tow trucks, but never saw a double decker tow truck.  It looked like a Malibu was on top of the cabin of the tow truck.

I will see if I can get the pic of my phone and will post it - I joke that one day I need to publish of picture book of things I've seen over the years.  Maybe I should call it:  Commuter Oddities

Re: AM Style Chat - December 26th

Thanks, @LTT1, she is brave. When I was much younger I thought about becoming a truck driver, but now, in my old age, lol, I am not brave enough to do it. Also, having been a dispatcher, I know more about it now, and that also would stop me from wanting to drive the 'big rigs'. It's not an easy job. But she loves it!
