I'm with you. I don't like being told to wear a specific color.
I don't like theme parties either where you're expected to wear an ugly sweater, or a team jersey, or whatever. I'm not going to go out and buy something just to fit in at a party and wear it only once. Rant over.
Do you know the reason why the request for all white? Is it something truly special, or just because someone thinks photos "look better" if everyone is in white? (I've heard that reason before.)

@CrazyTimes Honestly, this guy will truly not care in the least! He is a regular Joe Shmoe with millions and would not care what anyone wears. He has done theme parties in the past... I have never, ever seen him dressed nice ...lol! He's a contractor/ worker... done so much for my city! It was just a question that I wanted to throw out there. 🤗

It sounds like this may be a " White Party". The kind of party Sean Diddy Combs made popular. It was considered very upscale for all guests to dress in white to attend lavish parties. So I think the request to wear white is similar to telling people formal attire requested for a wedding. I would think that many of the guests will show up in white pantsuits, white dresses, etc. and the men will be wearing white shirts and very likely linen colored slacks. You can Google White Parties and see examples of what I mean

Ok. Thanks for answering. I definitely know people who love theme parties. I have participated in a few in the past; just not my preferred thing. I tend to get a bit stressed out figuring out what to wear which is why I'd rather just wear something I already like and own. Hope you all have fun!

I don't have white clothes because I don't like to dress in white. Don't even have a white button down shirt. I do have a pair of white crop pants put away with seasonal clothes but hardly if ever wear them.
DH would wear white jeans because he wants to wear them all year, he likes them, but doesn't have a white shirt and white on white looks funny to me.
So we would show up in white bottoms and a colored top

@JFD12 No. I don't like the color white on me and except for a lot of my socks and 2 pairs of undies, I own *nothing* in white. Since the birthday person doesn't care I don't get why this request was made.
Sounds downright silly to me.

I worked at a large resort -- and have seen those type of Balls going on. The guests seemed to be "The Very Wealthy"...

My thoughts exactly and it sounds like an invitation to something special. We have received invitations to events where it said white tie and my husband thought "well, I am wearing a tuxedo, is that not good enough?" No, it's not. White tie is VERY SPECIAL occasion.
My son made the mistake of not wearing a white bow tie to a very special ball once and though the girl really, really liked him, it was her father who was the grand poobah and it made her upset that he did not wear a white tie instead of the regular black tie with his tuxedo.
He forgot to ask his mother what to wear that time. He was in college and living away from home but came home for the event but did not tell me until much later that he had been invited to a white tie event and wore a black bow tie and his girlfriend was upset about it.

Im confused. If the host doesnt care, then why did he make it a white party?
I literally do not own any white clothing despite living in Florida. Not one piece including underwear lol. Im too clumsy and would get it dirty somehow for sure.

It's all in fun! The birthday boy would not care at all if you showed up in your white skivvies! Lol! The party will be a blast, no matter what anyone shows up in! I will be wearing white! As requested. 🤍
