Hmm @LTT1 have you or DH ever lived in an apartment?  I'm not trying to be party pooper, I swear.  When my sister, who never lived in an apartment, decided to sell her house in 2015 and move into an apartment I cautioned her.  She had a downstairs unit, and somebody with kids moved upstairs of her and just let me say, I was there when my sister's hanging light fixtures started shaking from all the running above her head.

That and the kids were screamers, which my sister heard at 2 and 3 o'clock in the morning.

Yes, we had had enough of apartment living, we agreed, when we married all of those years ago.

He lived in a place (before we met) that he said had paper for walls. I had lived in probably 5 apartment complexes back then too. Before I purchased my very own little house just for me.

So, it seems we have some compromising to do on "wants."
