Thinking of upgrading to a smartphone. Which is the easiest to learn for my first time?

All I can suggest is to get an Android operating system. They are much cheaper than the "i guys" and you can do just as much with them.

If you are familiar with touch screens and what "apps" look like on a smart phone you will be able to figure most of them out. Some have tons of features but like any other electronic that is new to someone, I always suggest learning 1 new thing at a time. When that becomes easy for you move on to learning another one, and so on.

Same thing I do when I buy any new electronics and I've been buying them since the 1950's and to say they have changed a lot would be great understatement. I too practice what I suggest to others with my new equipment.

At some point you will do it by repetition and it will become easy for you. Lots of features are on many electronics and while I may play with some of them for awhile? I usually end up using only a small amount of them on a regular basis.

I have a Samsung Centura with TracFone and when I bought it from hsn my cost per month now run about $6. For me I really don't need or use this as a smart phone but it was cheaper to upgrade my phone than to add minutes to my other one that was about to expire on the 12 month pre-pay time.

jagk, I prefer Apple devices for many reasons, and I've used them for several years. They're very user-friendly. However, there are many choices and the "best" or "easiest" for one person isn't always going to be the "best" or "easiest" for everyone. I usually recommend: think about what you want the phone to do for you, consider what the phone and plans cost, look at which service provider you want, ask friends and family what they like to use, and if at all possible go to a b&m store to see and "feel" the different phones.

I don't think you can get any easier than an iPhone. You can take it right out of the box and start using it with practically no learning curve.

INHO the iPhone is the most user friendly smartphone. And the iPhone is reliable and the quality of the product is amazing. The most up to date iPhone is the 5s. But usually Apple releases a new iPhone in September. It might be called the iPhone 6. In the event you decide to purchase an iPhone you might want to wait until the Fall.
