If you are not using an up-to-date version, this can happen. Not all programs are supported forever by web or application developers.
Check your settings for updates, or click on the apple at the top left and choose "about this mac". That window will also lead you to "software updates", if there are any.

Yes, this. My father is dealing with something similar right now. His computer is out of date and can't handle updating the operating system, which is now no longer supported. He can't update his browsers, even if he wants to.
A bank can lock you out if you are using an unsupported browser because if it's no supported and a hacker finds a "hole" to exploit, that hole won't get patched and can compromise your personal data.
Try to update everything. And if you can't and don't want to buy a new computer, you can probably find a less expensive tablet, like a $35-50 Amazon Fire, with a new operating system and be able to do your banking that way.

I can no longer update my iPad so I don't use it to make purchase or any banking. Not Safe.
I use it for email, games & surfing the web when we are traveling.
If I need to make a purchase I can use DH's computer while we are on the road.

@goldensrbest Oh, my! I just remembered! Didn't you have the MacBook issue late last week, followed by the Trackfone? And now this! You poor things! But if things do "happen in threes" at least your "three" are hopefully over now and you can move on to no more electronics-related issues!!!!
