reading documents in microsoft word starter - help!

Now that I have saved the document in the .doc format and opened it in Word Starter, how do I make the document large enough to read? It is very small on my laptop screen and I cannot find anything like the handy + sign in adobe documents. I would give up on this document but I have to send it to someone in .doc format.
