paging JLLH358 with Kindle questions

Hi, I got two free books on my Kindle, thank you. I went to our public library because I don't have wi-fi. I turned the wireless on and went to settings to view connections. It showed two, one with 4 bars & one with only 1 bar. Of course I selected the 4 bar and pushed select. After about 20 seconds a message came on that it could not connect. I tried 3 or 4 times. The library gal said she couldn't help me. Am I doing something wrong that it wouldn't connect? Also someone told me that I need to download a program to read azw files to use Kindle. Do I? My books are there. Once again, thanks.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
